Hardware Problems fixing laptop

So a few days ago the fan of my laptop stopped working so I tried to fix it myself.
It's certainly not the first time I dissassembled a laptop, but I'm still pretty new to to it.
I think I found the cause of the fan not working: There was a piece of plastic jammed in it but I got it out easily enough.

But after completely assembling the laptop again it wouldn't boot anymore.
To be a little more specific: The light of my charger being plugged in was burning so I suspect it's not a power problem, but when I press the power button litterally nothing happens.
Not even the light around the power button itself switched on and there wasn't any sound or sign of the computer booting up.

Now to get to the fan I had to dissassemble the laptop almost completely and had to take out the hard drive and DVD-drive and dissconnect the keyboard so it could be I forgot something when I assembled it but I actually think I reconnected them all.
My first thought is that the hard drive isn't properly connected and that's the reason it doesn't boot, but well I'm not an expert.
Reason I ask is because I don't want to dissassemble and reassemble my laptop multiple times and working with trial and error so has anyone any idea what it could be?

I have an ASUS N53SX if you where wondering.

I see a power problem, explain why you don't think it is.

Do you have pics of it's inside? kinda hard to describe what may be wrong with the info given

(plus i'm no notebook expert, never had to open one)

Burning power brick on the charger? Could be a damaged transformer.
Could also be that when you dismantled the laptop, you did something to the power button in the chassis.
But yeah, more info would help.

I assume he means the light when the cord plugged in was working, not actually "burning". OP needs to clear up what he means..

Take the laptop apart and check the actual power button, it might be a case of button misalignment/malfunction. Also make sure all the RAM is seated correctly, the HDD is connected, and any other piece of hardware you might have removed or touched is inserted correctly.

Well like I said I'm not an expert, so I could be wrong.
So what you are saying is that even though the light on my laptop that indicates it is charging/plugged in is working, another crucial part isn't getting any power?
In my mind it made more sense that the light would not work if there where components that didn't get any power.
Now I think about it, that actually doesn't make sense

It's because you said the light was "burning" instead of working, which (as understood by a majority of English speakers) means that something is wrong with it.

Yeah sorry, if you would translate it litterally from dutch you would say it's 'burning'.
Anyway I meant it was working.

Something I always say to my friends, ONLY disassemble your PC/Laptop if you have enough confidence that you know what you're doing. Always make a ton of pictures, just to be sure. Can you get a similar charger? That might work. If the light on the charger is on, that means that the charger itself is receiving power. There could always be a problem with the cord from the charger to the laptop.

As for burning =/= working, in Dutch we say that licht aan het branden is, which literary translates to the light is burning. Anyways, open it up, take pictures and make sure everything is connected properly.
