Those photos are not proof at all. Infact it looks like the user got a second hand GW for cheap just to use as "proof", for all we know the user tried a R4i clone and then is now claiming it was GW. Just look at those scratches on the GW card...

You sheep really are deluded. Check the OPs posting history, he's posted threads about his gateway in the past (asking for help, etc). There's no reason to believe he's lying about this.
Stop being such a fanboy and realize that Gateway's code ISN'T PERFECT, and because it isn't perfect a bunch of innocent people are gonna get screwed. Due to that, they never should have implemented a brick code. But they're GREEDY, they have been since day one (with an absurd $85 price tag).

Only the OP knows the exact truth, but we have no reason not to believe him if we go by his past posts.

Here is the question you should really ask yourself:
If you turn on your 3DS next time, and get the blue screen (after only ever running official GW stuff), what would you feel like then?

Because that is most likely how the OP is feeling right now...

Come on, really? My Gateway card has scratches on it too. That's because I used it since I bought it, before all this started.
Either way, thinking like that is just stupid. They're not going to brick a 3DS, then go out and buy a Gateway and pin it on them. They own a Gateway, they got bricked. Gateway messed up big time.

With all the Gateway trolls and hate on this forum I'm surprised we don't see many more of these troll posts claiming official GW launcher bricked their 3DS to stir things up.

1 - He talked about his card before (do you at least know how to search for previous posts in a forum?). But of course, this must be a conspiracy by the forum admins which are plotting against gateway and set up all his past posts!!111!!!
2 - Stop being a fanboy, from the outside you look just ridiculous. All fanboys who blindly defend their "god product" or business kind of explain to me how the religions got such an enormous power across ages.

Don't worry... The Gateway drones will soon flood this thread with accusations that OP is a liar, or some other nonsense to discredit him, other than believe that their precious messiah is fucking up people's consoles.
I don't think he's lying, but he said he's said problems with his flash cart leading up to this.

well, it has shown "gamecard was removed error" several times, that was fixed with testing with diagnostic mode and the GWtestrom. i made a topic mentioning it awhile ago. i figured it might be a loose SD card slot, and i slipped a little piece of paper under it, and it worked almost perfectly ( i think in a span of a week, booting crash / gray screen happened once, but that's all.
He may have had a faulty card all along. Makes me think that there's at least a reasonable chance that he could have received some memory corruption, or a read/write error that caused a change in his MD5 after the initial check on it was cleared. Thus triggering the bricking code.

Not saying that it's something that was justified, just that chances of something like this happening are pretty slim if you've never had operations errors with your cart previously. Sorry, OP. Sucks.

Was it on sleep mode while you slept? I think some of the clone brickings have reportedly happened after a lengthy sleep mode.

gateway isnt who messed up
you messed up by buying a non authorized cartridge for your 3ds
if you were not so cheap and stuck to official cartridges then it wouldnt affect you
deal with it and move on

Erm... Did you check the first post? He is using a official cartridge.

Weren't those a black screen that didn't go away instead of this blue screen though?

Technically any flash cart is an unauthorized cartridge :P

Is it impossible for people to post something that isn't extremely positive or extremely negative? It sure seems so from this thread... fanboys of all sides suck ass. You're not contributing.

Could you give more details, apollooo? You said you were playing a game, went to bed, woke up, turned on your 3DS, and saw a bluescreen. Did you try taking out the Gateway cartridge and/or the SD card? Did you try copying the SD card's data, formatting it, then putting it back in?

this could be true since he did get SPI test to fail, game being removed message (i never got that) and some problems in sleep mode

copy from maxconsole The important question is what caused your brick; maybe your NAND was corrupted by something unrelated to Gateway; even regular unhacked 3DSs *can* die, without it being anyone's fault, eg. because of a bad chip, power fluctuation, or whatever. It is rare, but happens. If your NAND got corrupted due to reasons unrelated to Gateway but the chip itself is fine, then you should be able to restore your 3DS by flashing a backup via hardware.
However, if it is indeed true that the brick-code reprogramms the eMMC controller of the NAND so the NAND appears to be 0 bytes in size and if that is what happened to you, then flashing a backup to the NAND won't fix it.

No, it was indeed Gateway. They purposefully and maliciously installed a trojan to their device to deliberately screw over innocent users such as the OP. This was all Gateway's doing. If they hadn't coded that virus in there, OP would still have a working 3DS.
but if he hadnt been a cheap ass and used a flash cart then it wouldnt of happened in the first place

You should realize that apart from the redirection, all the Gateway code isn't in memory after the "emunand" is booted. The brick actually happens when you boot the launcher.dat, but you REALIZE the console is bricked only when exiting system settings (because the console reloads the real nand's firmware -> which is bricked) or you shut it down and power it up again. If you stayed in emunand without doing those things, you might not realize you're bricked for a long time, actually XD

im happy I decided to wait for the final 2.0 before making a gateway purchase.

now we have a major problem. gateway is the only team that's doing anything good on 3ds. now with this bricking garbage they've tainted their image and it will be hard to trust future updates even if people look through the code for any potential dangerous coding. they might have just killed the whole 3ds flash card thing with this. no other team has shown any potential so now we're stuck playing games in fear or going completely legit.
