Recently found out about this very interesting and under recognized feature of using alternate controllers on Devolution.

As far as I can tell you can use CC, CC Pro, WiiU Pro, PS3 controllers while playing gamecube backups. I'm confused about some of this though. Would a WiiU Pro only work on a WiiU in Wii/Gamecube mode or does this work on ANY Wii? Has anyone tried these alternate controllers and are they perfect 1:1 with no input lag?

I'm very interested in some alternate controller use. Especially want to know if a WiiU Pro works on older Wiis and if there is no lag.

Wii U Pro works on both Wii and Wii U in Devolution. Not sure about a Dual Shock 3 on a Wii but all you would have to try to do is connect it to the Wii via a usb cable and press the ps button, you should soon find out if it syncs up. As for input lag, I have never noticed any so take that for all it is worth

Thanks for the clarification. What do you think of the wiiu pro? Is it a solid controller? Also, do you know how the triggers behave? Are they analog or just register a full press on anything. Most interested in this for smash bros. melee.

The Wii Pro i have no issues with, feels good in my hands, responds well, battery on it seems to last forever, but the triggers aren't analog unfortunately, best best for it I find is the Dual Shock 3

So the triggers are digital as in, any press is a full press? That's actually not so bad. Do you know if Devolution is compatible with dios mios installed or do you need the stock mios?

Devolution doesn't touch the Mios so you are safe to use both if you wish. as for the the press, i think it registers as a full push I'm not sure. All I know is if you press LZ you can then use the 2 analogs ( The Left stick acting as the L trigger etc) as triggers, but for games like Smash Bros I would guess it would make life awkard

I tried running Devolution, the blue verification lights don't come on. At first I got a disc Id 00000000 error but I put the .iso in the games directory and it now gets beyond the error. When I select the game, it just goes black and no blue lights come up to verify the disc. This is the original rip and original disc, not sure why it doesn't work.

If you have a newer "classic" Wii, like I do, the GC compatibility has been removed (no controller ports) and also an incompatible drive. For now you need either access to an older GC-compatible Wii and jump through hoops with multiple Wiimotes, or wait for Nintendont to mature.

I got it to run from an SD card but it won't load from USB. Strangely if I try to load it from USB Loader GX, the lights come on but I got an error message saying an error has occurred with the gamecube, please see the instruction manual or something. I had to rip the game again and it worked using dios mios but didn't want to risk loading it from devolution again. If I load it directly from the devo loader in USB mode, it just goes black.
