I have no problem with betas it helps work out any kinks. people need to calm down and quit complaining about another build. do you want them to rush and make it less stable than it is. and on top of that everyone is asking for a lot from what I have seen. give them time and they can try and work in everything. this is a new card and it takes time to make a awesome card. I'm just happy I can even play 3ds rom files. and im sure when they make it multirom support. Im sure you can take the save files and move them into a folder with the 3ds rom file like you can with the dstwo or any other flash card. but they have to revamp the way gateway loads to support that.

have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

I'm getting random freezes as well when entering gateway mode. I have to shutdown the DS and restart it until I get in gateway mode. As for your zelda saving issue, searching for the issue gave me this result:

Be sure when you are going to the nintendo profile to hold the L button to go in to the Gateway GUI menu. From there, you can back-up your NAND. Once you've backed it up, make sure it's on the SD card (large card at the side of the DS) and make a backup of it on your system. Then, format the card through the Gateway GUI . Once that is done, you should see a different type of version when being in gateway mode and going to the system settings.

Ah cheers for the reply.

I totally forgot about holding L bit feature.

With regards to my SD, i just copied the launcher.dat into the root folder. I have used the existing SD card that came with my 3DS, and it has folders and pics in it. Does it matter if I am not doing any emuNand thingy? Also, I take it I should backup my Nand in case I update my fw accidentally? I never go online and have parental controls on. That should be fine ya?

Balls of steel but also a brain of dust.
What's the point of telling Nintendo that? They won't just change policy because you said you use the Gateway. Only effect this can have is Nintendo taking some sort of action against you. (I doubt they will, but they definitely won't do anything positive.)

New update from the Gateway team!

QUICK UPDATE ON BETA FIRMWARE

17/12/2013
Firstly a warm thank you for all the feedback and suggestions regarding our recent public release of GW 2.0b1.
GW 2.0b2 is a few days away from release and will be mainly emunand support for 7.0 and bug fixes together with an additional feature that will hopefully put an end to any accidental updates of consoles.

I wonder what the feature that should put an end to the accidental updates is.

On the whole save freeze, I must be lucky. Never happens for me. I finished Zelda, not one freeze. Same way I've always done it, home-X. No waiting any specific time.

you dont need to wait, thats bullsh... ^_^

just, when you enter gateway mode, sometimes this bug occurs... just enter a game and then leave the game via home button and if it works, you got no bug and you wont have this bug the whole time unless you shut down the 3ds or leave gateway mode and enter it again...
if the bug occurs, just shut down and start gw mode again, start game, try leaving it and see if it works... so if yo never encountered it, you are either extremely lucky OR you just never shut down your 3ds completely :D

Hey, guys just got my 4.2 3DS. Any reason not to purchase a Gateway right now? I.e. if there's a second version incoming soon, etc.

What's with people and playing their pokemon game so badly. :wtf:

Backup the entire SD card when you made a nand backup to your system, to be sure you have everything. The nand backup is needed only in order to restore the version (that you are currently using) back to the original.. But ONLY on the gateway mode, if you upgrade your original DS firmware, you are screwed.

Unless you fancy some soldering work.

Another few questions- Can I get away with using one microsd card for the Gateway? I'm looking at the instructions, and the second card is mostly needed for the installer. (Blue card) Do you only have to run the installer on boot, or is it required to be inside the 3DS for games to run?

New update from the Gateway team!
With emunand 7.0 they probably meant spoofing.
I saw the previous post with no multirom and pokemon support.
But does it mean that it is cause the second beta? I bet game dump will be on testing now.

Thanks for the Q/A.

This one will probably mess your current saves if there's no option to use old/new keyY.

That's what I thought, and makes sense. Directly reading/writing into the MicroSD card after the game's data region, like retail games.

I suppose direct save access is only for CARD2?
The other games will still need the Home>X to backup save to the SD.

Yup Afaik, only for CARD2, like you said, emulating a Retail Cartridge, the unintentional update, will most likely be settings not reverting back to SystemNAND, or a secondary cover they add to guarantee only the emuNAND gets updated
