Hello again everyone! Ran into another [noob] problem with Brilliant Blue: how would I reencrypt and repack the PGD file back into the iso?

CriFileSystem can reencrypt cpk (the PGD) file. UMDGen can repack the file back to ISO. :D

A word of advice: For Idea Factory games that use STCM script format like Brilliance Blue, try to include the "switch" code as a remark when you extract scripts. This switch code will make things more convenient for the translators. (This code will mark the choices and you can roughly identify when the dialogs branch, when they end, and when they branch back, etc.)

okay, noted :) for info's sake the file is INSTALL.DNS.

as for lines, there doesn't seem to be a problem because the script is already divided into lines, albeit differently from Passion Pink. Thank you so much!

if I can't find a way to patch the game externally, I'll have to rebuild the .iso, right? considering that the forum prohibits access to the original .iso, how acceptable is distributing a patched .iso?

Distributing patched ISO is as bad as distributing original ISO. ^_^

As far as I asked around, Xdelta patch seemed to be the one most people recommended for making a PSP patch.

Also, this thread is where I learned about decrypting PGD file and unpacking CPK files, etc.

I don't know if this'll be of any help, but the newest version of hkki can extract the text from Brothers Conflict:Brilliant Blue script files.

It also seems that adding new commands (new text entries) doesn't break anything, at least in the first script that I tried to do that with.

Second of all, learn to read : The post right above yours shows a FIRST attempt at inserting text into the game. Ergo, the patch still has a long way to go.

thesebzgal, if you have some scripts translated, you should try to make a test patch and run it on PSP to check if everything goes well with the program/scripts/etc. If there's any problem, you can spot and fix it early. Don't trust emulators too much. I just learned my lesson that things that worked on emulators might not work on PSP. T_T

Just run "python script.py decode file.tbl file.txt", then edit file.txt, then run "python script.py encode file.txt output.tbl".

It's just my suggestion that if you find a program to work with text insertion, try to test it and see the program's limitations, etc. Things will be easier if you adjust your translation to follow the program's format earlier in the translation process. You can also ask the translators to submit translation in a format that's ready to be inserted.

As for line breaks, I know Microsoft Word can do auto-line break if you save to plain text. (It'll ask if you want to insert line breaks when you save.) Just adjust the page margins until it holds about the same length of text as the game, and copy/paste your translation, it'll break the lines for you. The game uses %N for line break, so you can save it as plain text with line break first. Then search/replace new line with %N or something like that. (I know this sounds confusing. It's just one way to do line break without having to do everything manually. There are many other ways you can use. You can search for them on Internet. ^_^)
