Hacking Nintendo 3DS Hack Compilation
I think the Gateway Team should get GeoH0t on there team, or at least for homebrew???????????
All I really want is a Homebrew Channel like the one on the Wii. I want to play Homebrew on my 3DS. If there's a 3DS game that I want, I'll buy it. However, there are things that Nintendo aren't going to put on the e-Shop, and for that, Homebrew can fill the gap. What's so bad about Homebrew anyways? How is running software that Nintendo can't license or sell hurting their sales?

I hate to just be saying "me too", but that's exactly how I feel. I keep up with this forum because I want homebrew, but I don't have much to offer right now besides my support.
When homebrew is actually possible, I might be able to make some content, but I can't really work well with hardware.
Okay, it took two days of reading for hours at a time, but I have read through all 61 pages of comments on this thread. I had bought a pre-owned 3DS XL recently, and just checked to find the kernel I'm running is Ver. 6.2.0-12U, so I think unless they find a hardware vulnerability to exploit, I'm way beyond being able to use any currently known exploits. However, this Gateway 3DS thing sounds intriguing, even if it does mean having one game per microSD, however, like early NDS flashcards, it's still pricy. For $78, I can buy several second-hand 3DS games, and pretty much cover all the one's I'd be interested in. Also, it's not shown to be possible even with this flashcart that homebrew can be run on 3DS, and that's more what I'm interested in. It seems the Decapping fundraiser is stagnating again, but I'll keep watching. It could certainly be the breakthrough that many of us are hoping for. Knowing the hardware inside and out, how it functions, is pretty important for hacking and writing software. I'm going to watch for updates, but I don't really have much urge to say much else. A lot of what I've read is just people constantly repeating themselves and it's not very productive; it just makes for more reading. Godspeed.

Well I just pre-ordered the red Pokemon Y 3DS and I'm getting Pokemon Y so whatever. I'll stop updating once pkmn is playable, as long as online gameplay doesn't require an update. Thread updated.
And do what? he is by definition a hack. he can't invent an exploit, only take someone else's code and modify it and re-release.
Gateway team aka Divineo is much the same. They state that they are working on a fix for newer versions of 3DS fw but this is impossible because they don't know how to. They, like any other flashcart mfr, are going to wait til another hacker releases a new exploit and then put out a product.
This is just how things work. If you don't believe me, look at how many people copied DS exploits and released a plethora of inferior flash carts to follow.
AFAIK, the exploit used by Gateway currently was not one that was found/released by any other hacker prior to the release of Gateway. If I'm wrong on that, feel free to prove it.

afaik it is based on Yellow8's hack but I could be wrong because I only looked it up today.

The crash in 3DS mode was already found, but they had to find the kernel acces, no?

I have to update this soon. Also, so far, all hacks only work on a 3DS with 4.5 for the firmware. I bought another XL (limited edition Pokemon version), if anyone knows where I can get one with a firmware on 4.5, please let me know-idk if I should trust eBay.

A very close friend of mine has a limited edition zelda 3DS. I checked the firmware and it's a 4.1(or 4.3) I think... I'm jealous of her >.<
lol 1/46 chance of working, sounds like a certain hack in the real world that we all know about.
Really, the only exploit here is the silly ninja soundtrack working over our ears.
