Decent Laserprinter with Airprint and high res ?

Well,

Since I decided I didn't want no Inkjet printer no more I'm currently searching for a *affordable* printer :

- Laser Printer
- Resolution: 1200x1200 dpi
- Extras: Scanner built in, Airprint compatible (even the better if wireless direct capable)

I have so far only found extremly expensive printers or those that only print black and white.

EDIT: Thanks FAST6191, I didn't notice that in the OP. And why don't you want an inkjet one pasc? Laser printers are much more expensive if you want colour. I suggest you read these two pages:

I have been not unfortunate enough to have to tangle with airprint and the other features you seek are not things I look for in laser printers so I could do a search but it would just be me searching. I do have to say there are such things as print servers that can connect to wireless and whatever else though.

You are much better off going separate printer and scanner instead of all-in-one laser printer, especially if you have color printing in mind. Very few high-end model will include scanner, unless it is business grade copy machine.

What makes laser printing affordable is not the machine itself, but volume printing with toner. That is why printer itself is expensive compared to inkjet, because on inkjet ink themselves will be more expensive than toner.

And why are you looking for high res laser printer? Are you planning to print photos, because laser printer is not meant for printing photos.

Alright, then let's refine this:

Color Laser, resolution: 1200x1200 (there are ways to add airprint afterwards either way)

photos are not my goal.

Laser > Inkjet because:
- Doesn't smuge
- No messy inkcartridge swapping needed (I despise them)
- I *surmise* the drawback of drying out color reservoir is remedied ?

Is there even a normal color Laser printer with a res of 1200x1200 that one can afford ?

Drying out.... to an extent you dodge that (certainly where I would be amazed if an inkjet printed something well after sitting for 7 months I would not bat an eyelid if a laser printer did it) but you do get checks, clogged level markers, dirty optical checks and more.

Do not get me wrong for my sanity and theirs any client that is looking for a printer and does not need to print all of three documents a year or needs something remotely professional looking in those cases is getting a laser printer. Given my choice the only reason I would have a inkjet around is to have a scanner (photo printers are usually slightly different). When that starts happening though people want an A3 printer and I honestly can not say if I have ever seen a laser MFD/MFP do a scanner and have an A3 tray, they probably do exist but I have never seen one in the wild. Similarly when I do that it is likely to be a nice HP or Dell thing that I can be reasonably sure of finding/hacking together parts, toner and drivers for modern operating systems in the years to come.
