So a few days ago I did the hardware verification test on my red gateway card by writing the test rom to my 4GB micro sd card. I ran the test and the LED was flashing red for a few minutes, then it turned to green and stayed green constantly, so I assume this means my card is okay and not defective. After that was done I formatted the micro sd card, put fire emblem awakening on it, and proceeded to play it successfully. What caught my attention today was that when I went into gateway mode on the 3ds (settings-->profile-->nds profile) the 3ds froze so I had to force it to shut down (This is strange because I have launched gateway mode successfully for the past few days without a problem.) I entered gateway mode again and suddenly it worked. Is there a reason that it just froze when launching into gateway mode? This is the first time it's happened and yes I am a little paranoid about these things. (Sorry for the long post.)

Yeah the Sd card I used was sandisk micro sd and my sd card reader was the t-flash reader that came with the r4 card I got for my ds lite a few years back. Maybe I should invest in a better reader...

I have a question (concern) about you not reading the stickies.

So a few days ago Cyan pinned a sticky thread by using his magical powers of moderator's control panel. He asked that people ask their questions within the sticky Gateway support topic and not make new threads, you made this topic so I assume you haven't seen the sticky. What caught my attention today is that you made this topic and didn't use the sticky. This is strange because members are expected to have a glance at stickies before making a new topic. Is there a reason for making this topic and not use the one that's already pinned? This is not the first time it has happened and yes I am a little annoyed about too many Gateway topics. (Sorry for the parody post).

Cool sounds good. Also I am interested in what codychaosx said about the 3ds hanging after pressing a button after clicking the ds profile thing. I'm going to go test it right now and see if it hangs. I'll let you guys know what happens.

It happens to alot of people and its random, ive had it happen maybe 1 or 2 times out of 100+, I think it happens mainly to people just so that they can continuously start new threads about it, when there is an existing stickied one :)

I just tested it out and mine doesn't hang after launching gateway mode so I guess it is the read speed of the card then.

Again, sorry about posting this new thread I'll be more careful next time.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card

Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
