I still confused about both fixes, djtuei one and yours, which one allow you to play games without any screen stretch? Also, if I run let's say Retro Arcade from the 16:9 HBC, the system will stretch the image or will respect the native game/app resolution?

I understand that djtuei fix switch everything to 16:9 even VC games that run natively in 4:3 aspect ratio...

I already have a HBC Channel installed in my vWii,

Do I need to remove the old one first?
Or if I install this new one will it replace the old one?
Or there'll be two HBC Channels after the installation (Can I remove the old one then with MMM?)

Sorry for the noob questions, but it's better to ask than to have a bricked vWii mode

There'll be two, this one just loads the other one, so you need to keep both if you want to use this workaround.

Got it.. so I'll still have the option to choose 4:3 by loading the channel. and 16:9 by loading the forwarder

Thank you

There's a file called uid.sys which lists the UID for each title, which are assigned iteratively in order of the titles being launched. System Menu (00000001 00000002) has UID 0x1000 and all titles launched subsequently have ascending UIDs. So the first channel (or disc game) you launched will be 0x1001 etc. Titles aren't removed from this file once they are deleted (so if you reinstall the title, it still has the same UID), so it essentially acts as a log of every single channel that has ever been launched on your Wii (or vWii).

As an aside, I wonder if it's possible to replace uid.sys with a "clean" copy, like you can do with your message board. A possible way to get a clean one on the Wii U would be as follows:

Put FS Toolbox as your boot.elf file on the root of the SD, then use something like Smash Stack to run the homebrew. Or Return of the Jodi (how I got HBC on my vWii) or one of the others.

That way, all you've run is the built in IOS/titles, plus a retail disc that wouldn't immediately be a red flag (especially a game like SSBB, it would be reasonable that someone would be playing it legitimately!)

Or would uid.sys record the .elf file launching even though it's not a "channel"?

uid.sys wouldn't record it, because it's not a title, so it isn't assigned it's own uid, it just runs as the same uid as the exploited game. But there may be other traces (for example, I don't believe FSToolbox properly rebuilds the file list after modifications or something; it may be possible to detect that).

I have a question... I bought a Wii U day one and have updated the FW probably once since then, so my FW is defiantly not on 4.0. So far I have installed the Home Brew Channel but have done nothing else at this point. I was planning on following this guide:

http://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-install-cios-on-vwii-backup-nand-and-keys.339890/

My question is, should my course of action be to follow that guide, install the new Wii U FW bringing my system up to 4.0 and then lastly do what is talked about in this thread? Also is there any steps I maybe missing or should I be following another guide other than the link I have posted above?

Thanks!

I bought a Wii U last week and yesterday i hackked it with Bathax, i followed this guide http://gbatemp.net/threads/full-vwii-softmod.339899/ and it seems that step 4-6 is exactly the same. If you plan on installing cIOS236 use this installer instead http://wiiuhax.com/released-ios236-installer-mod-v8-for-vwii/ worked like a charm.

Isn't "4" backing up the keys and "6" installing the new CIOS on the first guide you posted?

CIOS236? Not sure which are needed? I mean I hacked my original Wii but that was ages ago. I know certain CIOS are used to run certain games but I think on the Wii I am using 249 if I recall without any problems.

I just want to make sure I understand what is best before I go diving into it all.

Either will work. Siras's looks like it might be a little more complete.

However his direction don't say much other than he tried using the first guide but instead used the second which really isn't a guide at all. All I see is a link to download cIOS236?? Should I be following the original guide I posted and then installing cIOS236 as well?

Starting to get confused.

Let's make this simple.

Home Brew Channel is installed.

What are the following steps or is there a link with direction I can follow please?

For the record all I want to do is run GX Loader off a SD card to play games Wii games of my external hard drive that I use for my Wii which is already hacked.
