Earlier today I attempted HomePass, I had no issues until using the MACycle.

After the first run my computer was no longer able to detect wireless networks, constantly froze, and slowed considerably. I restarted my computer & reverted all setting to their original form (turned off hostednetwork/sharing, etc), I'm able to connect to my wireless, yet there is a very noticeable lag upon restarting, navigation, & opening programs. How can I revert/"uninstall"/etc MACycle?

Any help for this HomePass n00b?

Had a similar problem after using macycle for the 1st time after upgrading to Windows 8.1, maybe is not compatible yet.
Now I'm sure, is not compatible with W8.1, the wifi deactivate itself even with old macycle.

Hey guys i just tried to use this earlier and it did not work for me... i am using an old acer aspire laptop with windows 7 and an intel pentium p6100 chip, if that matters... I set up an attwifi spot as stated on Chaldron's thread and then i ran this program using random and 15 minute intervals and it ran through 5 MAC's but i received no streetpasses any clue what may be wrong?

Alright, I manage to set it up under my Windows 8.1 G505 Lenovo laptop.

The biggest problem I came across is chaing the mac address. Starting with Vista, the first 2 octets of the mac address must be 02:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX. It is reseted back to it's original mac address if it doesn't start with that.

In the mac address list spreadsheet, there is only one that "exists" and it's 02:53:50:4F:4F:46. I would really request that people use this mac address atleast once in a while. People under Windows 7/8 and 8.1 will appreciate A LOT.

Could you point me to some documentation on that? You seem to know what you're talking about, but I was planning on updating my setup to Windows 7 in a week or two and I would be bummed if I were to run into issues that like with HomePass.

Well, because I was having problem change the address, I tried multiple program. I read that on Technitium forum if I remember right.

http://www.technitium.com/tmac/index.html

After that, I realised that in the mac address spreadsheet list, under Extented Prime MAC's bottom thing, it is written "First octet slightly different. Some users are unable to set the first octet properly, but 02 is accepted.".

Now we know why.

Interesting. My laptop is running Windows 7 and the default MAC address of my wireless card starts with "00". Maybe it is a hardware issue for some users on Windows 7? The RAM I need for my desktop so I can upgrade it to Windows 7 is set to come in on Monday, so I'll update everyone if I have any issues. I'm using the Nintendo Wi-FI USB Connector currently with modified drivers on Windows XP and have had no problems.

Are you using your internal/default Wireless Card, Pip?

Yes, and the x02 first octets problem only applies to internal cards.

Alright, I updated to Windows 7 and I can't figure out how to get MACycle working again for the life of me. I am unable to even get hostednetwork started.

I'm still using the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector and I'd like to continue using it. I installed the attached driver after modifying it to include the USB ID of the dongle. It is the same chipset, so it functions normally without a problem. I just can't get it to function with MACycle now (it doesn't change the MAC Address anymore even though it is appropriately named) and I can't get a hostednetwork started to share the Internet connection with.

EDIT: After many attempts with different drivers and software, I decided to run Windows XP within Virtual Box. I feel so bad for you guys attempting to run this within Windows 7; it is a massive pain. I never knew how restricted Access Points were on Windows 7 until now.

Well, I've been trying this for quite a while and can't get it to work. I have a Windows 7 laptop and the connection I'm trying to use is a Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport. I've gotten it so I get an internet connection with it named attwifi just fine on my 3DS, but when I try to change the MAC address (any way, not just with this) it doesn't work. When I use MACycle I click to change the address and it seems to think it worked but it turns out that the attwifi router has been stopped. If I then do "netsh wlan start hostednetwork" and check the MAC address it hasn't changed. Any ideas what's going wrong? Oh, and the only connection that has "network address" in the advanced tab is my LAN.

I would really love to be able to manually set a list of MACs to rotate through or a range ,or both on this program. ive been running through the neighboring cities with ApScan on my android picking up the local MAC Addresses and would love to be able to rotate through those without tearing into source code and adding them to list (dont have time) as it is I have acquired over 50 local Ap's that are street pass relays. Or if someone knows of a program that does this (I dont care if i have to manually change the mac address)

I haven't used homepass before, but since I never really get streetpasses legitimately, I decided to look into it, and I have a question. Does the mac address return to normal after you use it?

Have you tried out MACPass? http://gbatemp.net/threads/homepass-macpass.354279/

It outputs all of the mac addresses to a macs.txt file allowing you to add/remove your own. After adding your own, start the program then hit the shuffle button as much as you want, then Save/Pause to save that shuffled list. Each time you launch it remember to Load so it goes back to your last used mac order. If you add more Macs, just repeat with the shuffle/save after start.

It does not, but that is easily remedied by installing Technitium MAC Address Changer which will allow you to restore the original MAC Address for your hardware with a single click.

The problem with the first octet also has to do with what chipset your wireless adaptor uses. I have my homepass setup running off an internal wireless card on a windows 7 computer and I have no problems using "4E" as the first octect.

You can restore the original mac address after using the program by using the following command in a command prompt window with adminstrator privileges. Make sure that you have navigated to the directory where you have the saved macshift to.

Code:
macshift -i "YOUR WIFI CONNECTION NAME" -d

Replace "YOUR WIFI CONNECTION NAME" with the name of your wireless network connection

I know there have been several other replies citing how to switch back to your original mac address - I'd just like to offer up an alternative...
After completing a full cycle (or after manually stopping the cycle), simply input your original mac address into the "custom mac address" boxes in the second tab, connect, then quit the program.
