I totally agree with OP here.
I heard about Gateway 3DS, was following its progress before it was released, and when it came out and they said it wouldn't work past 4.5, I went and bought a second 3DS so I could use it. My local Target had tons of them with 2012 on the box, it wasn't even remotely hard - unlike finding a 3.55 PS3 in today's day and age.
That way it's the best of both worlds, I can go online with my legit 3DS, as I buy lots of games from the eShop and have no risk of being banned from that.
Sure, it would be nice if Gateway worked on 6.x, but every time I see people complaining I want to say "You want it to work? YOU go find an exploit then!" because seriously, it's just getting old. If you're going to spend $80 on a flash cart just to play pirated games, you can spend another $180 on a 3DS XL (or even less if you don't want XL)
