I don't think there is anything wrong with Nintendo's qc, I believe there is a certain rate of tolerance for these parts and a stuck pixel or two out of a thousand or two is considered acceptable in the terms of quality control, now I'm not saying you should live with it as a user, take it back if you're not happy, but from a technical standpoint, I bet you there is a certain failure rate considered acceptable and these units ship with the stuck pixels. My two cents anyway.

My first Onyx DS has two red pixels and one blue on the touch screen. I immediately returned it and received a perfect one =]

Seriously, wtf is wrong with Nintendo's QC? I hope the Wii won't have this many problems. My Polar DS has the cracked hinge, yellow touch screen, and defective touch screen. Maybe this is Nintendo's new marketing scheme to make people buy a second system to bloat their sales figure =P

Yeah, except you might have something called a "warranty." You should look into it.

The pixel fixer didn't worked.. I'll have to exchange it.
The stucked pixel was blue on the bottom of the top screen. Really hard to massage...

I think the main problem with the DS is that is too much popular. Nintendo just try to answer the demand and release "not perfect" DS and hope people won't complaint to much. If fact it's hard for a 10 years old boy to notice a stuck pixel and he probably prefered to live with that than return it.

I let you inform if my new Onyx has any problems (cross fingers).

The thing I dont get is...

Coral Pink...yeah
Onyx Black...yeah
Polar White...no no no...

They should stick with a color naming theme. Like, Pearl White. Wonder what they would call the Blues if they brought them here...

Its down to the batches.

The blue nintendog ds's here in the uk london area were plagued with dead pixels in winter 2005. I exchanged about 8 of them, all with deaddies. After a while, these bundles sold out, and new shipments were sent. The first blue bundle I bought from these new shipments was perfect.

Possibly all the rejects were sold around christmas, in the knowledge, that people dont ususally complain about their presents that imte of the year?

got my polar white about 3 months ago. sent it in a few weeks ago because the R button was not clicky.
nintendo sent out a new one (well, a refurb) that was in perfect condition
niether had/have developed hinge cracks.
neither had dead or stuck pixels. my girlfriend bought a polar white about 3 months ago also, it doesn't have any stuck or dead pixels and the R button is clicky...plus the hinges aren't cracking.

i guess were just lucky so far...other than the r button thing

I got my daughter a black UK lite yesterday.
The TOP screen is yellow.
How can this be? Didn't Nintendo say that yellow screens were due to the touch layer?
Complete and utter bullshit.

got it replaced over the weekend... the screens on the new one still don't match up 100%, but at least there's no yellow tint, and also, the dpad feels alot better on the new one...

The japanese name (I think it was Crystal) was better.

And gamecube was called Jet Black, I think that's better than Onyx. One thing about gamecube tho, the orange one was called Spice.

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
