-_-, I wasn't commenting about what Gateway said. Can you guys please read and maintain context?

See how Alucard already said that knowing Gateway, a couple weeks could mean a month or so? liban then goes on to state that a couple actually is a month, not just in regards to Gateway, which is false. THAT is what I was clearly replying to.

hello. do you know when you will release the card?
i heard it was this weekend but its already Tuesday.
do you also have plans to upgrade it to work with 6.1.x firmware?

to me
cleardot.gif

it is coming end of the week.
Currently it is not compatible with firmware above 4.5 but we are working on making
it compatible as quickly as possible with 5.x and 6.x firmwares.
Meanwhile, do NOT update your console to any newer firmware until we say it is
ok to do so. We should have a solution for you soon.

Hey, I don't want to make a new thread for this single question, this might be the right place:

You guys advise us to turn off internet, spotpass and streetpass, in order to keep the handheld in a specific firmware. Well, I love streetpass too much, and I keep wi-fi, spotpass and everything on. Of course, the 3DS often asks me if I want to update (B button it is).
Is it safe to keep it that way, or can the 3DS somehow update itself without my permission? (not playing online btw)

tl;dr do we really need to turn wi-fi and streetpass off to stay out of that 6.x from hell?

Get over yourself.

It is a video game forum. So someone does not know what "couple" means, deal with it. Anal troll.

If you or anybody else fires up the 3DS and hits A just once, it updates.

And we can't tell you how many times we've seen "My bro/won/wife/dog turned it on and hit A like it told him to".

So if you get updated, it's your fault. :P

I have given my opinion on this more than a few times myself. I have to say, I completely agree with Rydian. You are risking it. You should listen to him..

Weird thing is, I've been prompted to update my 3DS at least a half dozen times when my wireless was turned off. What would happen if I pressed 'A' then, I wonder. Is it possible that my 3DS downloaded the update at some point when my wireless was on and it's just asking to install it?

Oh, I'll pay attention then, and I swear I won't complain if my mouse press A (you know how those guys love Animal Crossing  ...).
But only time will tell if the Gateway is future-proof enough to be able to update once in a while.

Did I say you were commenting on what Gateway said? Perhaps you should work on your reading skills.
The idiocy of this comment knows no bounds. Each comment in a thread is not its own self contained discussion. And you literally said "just because they said that, does not mean it's true." In the context of that discussion, you could only of been talking about Gateway, and thus yes, you did imply Gateway. Do you not even remember the things you write?

Get over yourself.

Uhh, I did deal with it, by trying to explain to him that a couple actually means 2. I'm sorry if you think trying to teach someone something equals "trolling", that must be a sad world you live in. You should heed your own advice and get over yourself as well, don't start an argument where there didn't need to be one.

Given that you started the argument, it is rather arrogant to imply otherwise.

Furthermore, he is not on this forum to learn dictionary definitions of words. Presuming that he is, and "telling him better" is also particularly arrogant.

Moreover, as a point of interest, he actually was not entirely wrong. In Australia, "a couple of days" does not always mean literally two days, it can mean a few or some days or even more. The dictionary meaning may be "two", but colloquially, is used otherwise.

Case in point: A bad Australian song from the 80s called "cuppla days", which does not literally mean "two days"

Correcting someone doesn't equal "starting an argument". It also didn't involve you, but you stepped in to create more argument.
This isn't about slang meanings of words in certain cultures, it's about someone stating what they thought was a fact about "a couple", and being corrected. The person I was replying to was literally trying to correct another person, which makes this whole situation you are arguing about even sillier.

Correct me if I'm wrong -- is it not twice? There should be a confirmation after pressing "Yes" the first time.
I'm not sure about the prompt at startup, actually (all the cases we've seen, people did it on purpose anyways, not knowing for a variety of reasons).

No more sillier than getting your knickers in a knot about someone on a video game forum not knowing the dictionary meaning of "couple".

My knickers were not in a knot haha, I was pointing something out, very happily, as I enjoy sharing knowledge. Nice try trying to save face, but you were wrong man, just leave it. You're only making yourself look even sillier ;)

From what I recall the update is downloaded as soon as it gets connected to the internet, when it asks if you want to update it just installs the update since the download was done behind the scenes so even if you have your wireless turned off, you probably already have the update downloaded and waiting to be installed. I think that's how it went with the updates, I might be wrong though.
