Gaming Favourite Monster Hunter Moments?

I know I'm a newbie at this, but I'd post one. HR2 Guild Quest - Hunt a Rathalos. I take 10 mega potions and 10 potions. Great Wroggi armour (low rank) and Bloodwings+ (dual swords). I get my butt turned into cream cheese by that dragon - kept on taking hits from his fireballs and burning. He finally limps and flies off into his rest area. By this time, I have two mega potions left, and not much time on the clock. I spend ten minutes looking for his rest area, and finally find him curled up into a ball and snoring. I grab my weapons and inflict a couple of hits on it. Rathalos gets up, is pissed, and flies up. One hit from Cha-Cha knocks him to the ground, stunned. I start wailing on his tail, desperately trying to sever it. Rathalos gets up, and just as he does, I whack off it's tail. It limps off. I start wailing on it's hind legs, and just as the clock is about to run out, Kayamba kills it with a well placed boomerang.

Second scenario was when I was doing the village quests. It was the "deliver two dragon eggs" one. It's in Deserted Island, and I'm going...okay, this is going to be easy. Just grab them and go, go, go! I head up to the nest, and I almost pee myself...its' Rathian! Keep in mind, this is the first time I've seen a dragon type in this game. The thing almost takes me out with her poison tail and her claws, but I manage to get away. The next time I do this quest, I remember to bring the dung bombs!

My favorite moment was when I fought Caedeus. First thought "DAMN, that's huge". Alrighty, time to cut his beard (I read a short guide before to know what I'm up against, they didn't tell me about the size), so I attacked and attacked and attacked, got attacked, attacked, attacked and suddenly the beard was gone. I was happy, since if the beard isn't gone by the time Caedeus gets to area 3, the quest apparently fails. Time to attack it some more, until he reaches area 3. And that's where the fun begins, since there he goes fully attack mode. Good thing you got some extras there

2 ballistas and some big-ass dragonspear which can be used every 10-15 minutes

to help you. So first I'm like "where's what?!", so I go looking for the extras. I found them, but I didn't know where the big one comes out, so I hit it and, well, it was right underneath it. "Ok", I thought, "that sucks. Now I have to wait". Well, in the meantime I used the other 2 things to attack his horns (which should be destroyed/cut before the time runs out), so I tried to aim and, voila, one horn breaks. Being happy about it, I look at the time "10 minutes left" (you only have 35 minutes for that quest). "Damn, time to lure him to the big one and try to hit him". I kinda succeeded in luring him there, but, of course, he wasn't near enough so I missed. Well, there was no time left to wait for it to use it a third time, so I just attacked him like mad. From time to time looking at the clock, wondering if I'm gonna beat him, I used the 2 extras again. I couldn't aim at his horn, so I just shot him in his belly. Well, no more ammo left, so time for some sword fighting again. "5 minutes left", I was afraid I wasn't gonna make it in time, then, with 3 minutes left, Cha-Cha throws his boomerang at him and BOOM, "Quest finished". While I didn't kill him, he swam away (oh right, the whole battle was underwater, so I had to look for air bubbles from time to time as well) and I could swim to his horn and get some loot. I was soooo happy that I succeeded, I wanted to hug Cha-Cha that little beast.
Equipment: Rathalos set, upgraded 4 times (2 normal armourthingies and 2 armourthingies+) and a longsword named Wind Eater 429 attack (I love that sword, the upgrade even more). I think with all the attack spheres I had 478 attack.

that quest can be completed either by killing him or doing enough damage and when the time runs out he swims away. if you do that quest again he'll have the same hp that he had when he fled, so you'll have an easier time slaying him next go.

getting the dragonator timing down is tricky, but chacha will give you a hint when to use it on him, sort of. once you figure it out it's cake.

Well, I finished the quest either way, but that's good to know. Maybe I'll do that new Caedeus quest some time (does it have the same "mechanics" with the damage being kept?)

Today, I decided to capture Rathian (in one of the village quests) instead of killing it. I stock up on Tranq bombs, pots and everything else. I drive it out of the wooded area of the volcano, and it flees into the watery section of it. It hits me with a fireball and at the same time, Cha-Cha knocks it for a loop with a boomerang. I see a shiny, and Cha-Cha and Kayamba both distract it. I grab it, and it's a Rathian plate - the exact thing I needed for the set of Lower Rank armour. I decide to continue on with capturing it, in hopes of creating more stuff for me to use. I finally wear it down enough so that it heads to it's resting place, and starts to snore. I sneak the wrong way around, and I waste time. I finally get there, and set a shock trap as it sleeps. It gets caught but doesn't go down.

Ten minutes later, I've broken both talons, and cut off it's tail and I finally grab my pitfall trap and set it. It falls into it, and I finally manage to tranq it. That was nerve-wracking. I'm absentmindedly checking the rewards screen (I had to answer the phone), and I found another Rathalos plate in it. Very weird. Now I'm looking for more shells to complete the armour!

My first Barroth hunt and I realized I forgot my mega potions. I think, "Okay I will leave Cha-Cha to do the agro he does best." I go in full force with my Metal Bagpipe + and while attacking it keep buffing, then I noticed something out of the corner of my eye, Cha-Cha is attacking all the bugs. I am freaking out, I put away my horn and lob a paintbomb, then start beating on him and he start fleeing. I was so confused I follow him to another area, Jaggi and bugs, not great when I am getting beaten by a Barroth. I keep attacking and break a chuck off his head he flees limping. I harvest the piece of his head then follow in pursuit. I notice him eating, I was terrified I have low health and he's healing himself. Cha-Cha does healing dance and I do health boost song on my pipes. I start to notice I am dodging more than attacking. I quickly take a first aid med I grabbed from the chest and start beating on the Barroth. It starts limping again and flees to the first area I found him at to rest. I sneak up on him and unleash the full wrath of my attack boost song combo I am so close to beating him, he starts his charge and I dodge he then just falls over and I realize Cha-Cha killed him.

Loss Qurupeco and Rathalos vs Black-Ice Win

Coz the stupid bird needed backup to try and kill me. No
Epic Kirito (sword art online anime) moment, activated the attack boost on my Ludroth pair dual blades and slashed and ducked for my life.
No potions left at the end, life bar low enough for a mere jaggi to kill me.

I can't really get myself into this game... maybe I should get it for the 3DS and do some quests with my brother (which got the game ahead of me but tossed it for now due to it's difficulty)

Oh gods, Barroth is evil. I first fought him with the Ludroth GS (the catalysm sword?), and he kept on doing the head charge and mud shake. Evil!

Most epic was Goldbeard Ceadeus or w.e he's called.

We were fighting him for what seemed like almost 30 mins. I was tired and out of potions. I went to use the ballista to attack him (pretty sure he was almost close to death).
Had full hp but didn't want to risk anything because we were on our last lives. (2 deaths from some other guy that didn't do crap).

I was far away so i thought id be good. he uses his water jet attack from his mouth. Completely destroyed my hp.
Now I'm freaking out. Run away frantically. Fck the ballista, aint nobody got time fa that..
just focusing on staying alive. oxygen low. Chill out so i can take oxygen, momentarily hear him charging up for something.
wait what's that? hes looking at me? omfg another aqua jet blast thingy coming at me.
RUN RUN RUN. Miss hit dodge. Aqua jet blows down right in front of me missing me by an inch.
I'm shaking. my teammate hits him one last time.

Second fight against Lagiacrus. I was disappointed after the first one, it seemed so weak when you had to repel it. Then comes the second battle and its charging electricity right off the bat.

Most of these comments im noticing are coming before the pink rathian fights, all i can say is.... HAHAHAHA have fun.

But on topic. My fave monster hunter moment was seing pink rathian limp, 10 potions, 10 mega potions, few first aid's and a collective ton of antidotes later... then when she died, the scream of F**K YEH!!! could of brought someone out of a coma. Seriously tho, pink rathian is. a. BITCH!!! I am SO glad her armour is one of the most ugly looking ones in the set because there is no way in hell im farming her.

I've heard horror stories with that fight. Plus, I'm totally not looking forward to the weird HR3 rank up fight. A rathian and a rathalos? Nope...

And plus, the Mark of a Hero fight. Three mostly aquatic monsters in a row.
