What do you consider 'Hardcore' gamers?
People who play shooters? People who only play games with awesome graphics and crappy gameplay?
I never understood what people mean with hardcore gamers and hardcore games... It's all relative and varies from person to person... I spend over 6 hours a day playing games yet I never bothered about calling myself a hardcore gamer, I'm simply someone who enjoys games.
It appears you consider Bayonetta a hardcore game, from what I understood by your comment, however the same can be applied to Pikmin, Kirby, Zelda, Dragon Quest, Pokemon, Metroid, Smash Bros, etc... They're some examples of what you'll eventually find in a Nintendo system, if you prefer more mature looking games, then there's the ZombieU, Assassins Creed, CoD and some others. So far the Wii U seems pretty balanced genre wise, the only real problem is that there aren't many games at all, but the same can be said for the Vita and many other systems during their early months.
A bit of trivia, originally a 'gamer', was someone who played rpg's, like Dungeon and Dragons and other tabletop rpg's. So real gamers would be those who play RPG's (especially ones like NeverWinter Nights).

Miyamoto and Iwata I can understand, they're great developers from the olden days who remained creative and kept their inner child alive.... but Reggie? He's a Marketing specialist, not a video game legend...
...unless you count having the creepiest smile on Earth as an achievement, although I do believe he didn't choose to have a smile like that, he was born that way...
