hmm the right corner is fixed with "2" lines, the right with one (hope you understand what i mean)

and on the right side, i can see the light through the "line" above the R button where i THINK it should be fixed with an adhesive or something else.. but the light shines through it at a width of ca 70% of the "line"....

I was the first one who said you must have dropped it.. but now theres a starting crack on mine DS too, and i am a bit afraid of that light..

btw, theres another thing i noticed on my DC.. just a very small detail:

You cant see it really, but when i touch carefully over my hing (the LONG part of it) i noticed that the plastic is not really good... there are "ups and downs" (sorry cant describe that in my english) or you can see it when the light falls in a good angle on it.

Its absolutely no Problem.. no optical or physical... but its another sign of bad manufacturing i think..

Well, my DSL is also starting to show a crack between the R button and the LED part.

Guess I'm f*cked since I'll need to send my DS to the US for warrenty...

Gah... mine is starting to crack, the crack is very small, like you can't even see it unless you were looking for it with a magnifying glass....

So after very carefull inspection I've confirmed three cracks. One is very visible: the well-known hinge crack.

The other two are still quite small, but I doubt they'll stay that way, and are at the exact same places above the R button and a bit to the side as shown in the pictures in the first message.

This is getting out of hand. I just noticed a small hairline crack starting to form on my Lite also. I hope Nintendo does something about this soon.

Somehow I hope this happens to all the DS Lites, so those people out there bashing us with the cracks suffer it to. They always think we don't take care of our stuff, and it is our fault. It's annoying... lol...

I looked at my hinges a couple weeks ago and no cracks, I checked last night and there was a crack on the left hinge.

Nintendo has stated that this is purely cosmetic, I sure hope that's true. Have there been any known instances of the more severe crack occurring on a ds that didn't have the hinge crack?

Also, is the hinge crack always on the left hinge?

Damn it you can add me to the list. Mine are in a slightly different place at the DS seems to be flexing down from the hinge and seems to be under pressure. They appear to be torsion stress fractures resulting from the pressure, there are two hacracks and a series of extremely small cracks in between. You can actually see where the DS is twisting under the force. This can be seen in other people's pictures but I thought they were a result of the crack themselves (to be honest I though you had just dropped them.) However mine isn't actually properly cracked but you can still see the flexing so the force must be there before the cracks appear. It's certainly not from a drop.

Fazered I have that exact same crack. I vow not to play my DS Lite till I rceive my replacement shells I plann on ordering. I'd rather spend 15-20$ on it, and get a different looking DS, than send it off to Nintendo to just get another DS that might crack.

Well I have a third crack that I didn't see before straight down from where the hinge connects to the DS. It is on the main body though. But I have no cracks actually on the hinge at all and no sign of any arriving. From a closer look at them (I only found them today after checking yesterday) you can see the pressure is caused by opening and closing the lid. As the lid clicks into position there is a lot of pressure on the corner section. You can see if push the section down and cause the cracks. They are sure to get bigger so I have spoken to Nintendo and am sending it back to them.

I'm not too upset because my DS's screen is not seated properly in the unit and sits down on one side. Sometimes when playing if I get my thumb close to the left of the screen it registers it and gets confused in the game.

Oh DS how I love you so but you must go to the DS home in the sky.

Could someone look at their non-damaged DS and check something for me? On the left hinge (as you look at the screen) the corner of the DS (that forms the end of the hinge) is sensibly all the same piece as the flat section that holds the d-pad. However on the right hinge on my DS there is a gap between the corner and the main body, they are two pieces. I just want to check that this isn't a big crack. From the pics I have looked at it certainly seems it is part of the design and the obvious reason why it's only that hinge that fails in this way. I don't know what the design reasons were for making it this way would be as it seems like an obvious point of failure. I'm sure there must be a reason. Whatever it is it does seem to be causing this new round of failures. I would expect that these are caused in combination with other weaknesses in construction or the plastic or even the assembly and causing failures for some owners. I really hope it not going to be a major problem for nintendo, I love them and they seem to be doing so well at the moment. A major recall would be very bad press indeed and insanely costly.

I really hope they replace mine though.
