Best way to read Manga on DS

SoftWare Needed:.

XAT IMAGE OPTIMIZER PRO 3.51 - http://rapidshare.de/files/27852315/XAT_IM...O_3.51.rar.html

and

MOONSHELL 1.31 – http://home.att.ne.jp/blue/moonlight/moonshell131.zip

Tutorial:.

1 - First you will have to convert on the computer all the pages of the sleeve for optimum comfort in the reading in the DS.

1.1 - Open XAT IMAGE OPTIMIZER, and go to option “File” and later in Wizard Batch (Or simply Ctrl+B).

1.2 - Now push in the button “Add Files…” and choose the images that you want it to convert, and later press in “Advancing” or "Advance" or "Next".

1.3 - It will appear this window, and in itm leave the configurations accurately as they are in the photo, only changes the Output Directory for the folder for where the converted archives will go, and later it press in the border “Transform”.

1.4 - Put the configurations accurately as in the photo, 576 Height and 270 Rotate and the option Never Enlarge active Images.

1.5 - Press in "advancing" or "next" and later in optimizer… now you have to wait to convert all the images and to put the images converted into the card.

2 - In this second part you will go to adapt its moonshell to see sleeves in the two screens.

2.1 - Now moonshell opens archive GLOBAL.INI of its (this archive is inside of the folder “shell”) and goes until the part where] has [KeyRepeat and where it has DelayCount, it changes the value for 10. P.S.: This part 2,1 is only for leaving the directional one in moonshell faster of what the normal one, if you to find fast excessively and not to like as it to be, small boat the old values again.

2.2 - And finally the part most important, go down the GLOBAL.INI until the part [ImagePlugin], and changes the GUITimeOutSec for value 1, and later it changes the ImageMode for 1, of this form now moonshell will go to show the photos in the two screens, later changes the DraFileInfo for “zero”, therefore with this active option (one) moonshell will go to show to the information of all the images that will be opening, thus harming the reading of mangá, and finally it changes the VerticalPadding for “zero”, thus moonshell will go to show the photo in the two screens, but without losing nothing of the image of a screen for another one, this is very important for who goes to read.

And now you only have to READ !

Thats a great way of doing it, and a great guide. I currently use my DS Lite to read road directions from a .txt file as my job involves traveling to different sites, sometimes a different one each day. I would like to use this to convert road maps as it would be easier to see my destination from where I am! (cant afford sat nav heh).
One question, can you zoom in and out and scroll the image once its on the DS? I know you can with the M3 built in image viewer but its kinda sucky.

Wait, I'm confused by the Moonshell part...maybe because I already don't know **** about Moonshell. I have a M3, does it still work on that?

Yeah, I'm looking at this install Moonshell thing and I'm really confused...

For moonshell just put the 'shell' dir in the root of your card along with moonshell.nds.

If you have SD you can just press select? or is the extend feature different?

Yeah, I also prefer DSOrganize. The picture viewer is awesome. I always batch convert (and rename) my manga with Irfan View before putting them on the DS, resizing them to a width of about 600 pixel.

Okay and if you have a M3 SD then what? From what little of this DSOrganizer I can find, it doesn't work with it.

And this moonshell thing is confusing the hell out of me.

Bleh, I don't like reading manga from a screen, but I am tempted to give this a go... reading it on the DS sounds quite cool, but is it possible to read a page scalled to a single screen? I imagine not but I don't particulary like the idea of having to scroll images. In the past I would print manga out onto paper but it got annoying when the printer pulled two sheets of paper through at once on the reverse side and messed up the ordering >_>.

Oh and quick recomendation; just bought Sgt Frog Vol. 1 yesterday and absolutely love it... gonna have to check out the rest of the series now! --;

The way it works in DSOrganize, you have a full page view on the touchscreen and a detailed view of the selected section on the top screen. This works really well for reading Manga, I read all chaptes of Pluto any Vinland Saga on it.

You get to the next page by pressing R, nothing is simpler than that. Just make sure your manga are about 600 pixel in height. If they are too big, you won't see enough on the touchscreen or it won't even work if the image eats too much memory. Converting a lot of pages is really simple with Irfan View, though.

I read an unhealthy amount of comics (US and Japanese) on my computer, so this sounds interesting, I don't mind reading off of a screen but sitting at my desk reading isn't really that comfortable, especially after reading 3 volumes of manga and 50 us comics in a sitting.

You should write a tutorial on how to do this
