Are You sure (source please) that HBC uses exploit in IOS58 for installation?
It chooses IOS58 for running HBC for sure but this does not imply exploit location.
Positive. My source is reading hackmii since 2007. I'm not gonna go dig it up on the blog, if you don't know how the homebrew channel functions that's not my problem. From http://hbc.hackmii.com/faq/
The installer tells me that it couldn't find a vulnerable IOS or something? What's that about?
The HackMii installer is the only program that can automatically make non-trivial system modifications on all Wiis. It has several different code paths (aka exploits) that it uses to do this; on any given Wii, the installer will scan your system to find the most appropriate one to use (generally, the most stable or least invasive one).

If you have recently installed an official update, this may mean that all of our existing exploits have been patched; in this case, please wait patiently for us to update the installer.

In most cases, however, this means you have installed some sort of "mod pack" (we refer to those as "failpack") which leaves your system in a damaged state that interferes with our system scan. In particular, "cIOSCORP" is known to be problematic because some idiot decided it would be smart to take some old version of IOS, change the version number, and overwrite all other IOSes. Other failpacks are less destructive, but that still means its not a good idea to use them.

You're basically on your own, for the sake of your Wii: get rid of the failpack.

That doesn't directly come out and say it, but the IOS the homebrew channel installs with is the one it uses after install. If he installed IOS36 like you'd suggested then he'd be able to update HBC would run off IOS36 since that would be the best IOS found that is vulnerable. If you want proof just look at this:
i tried rooskie method already, it seemed to work. its alrite isnt it?
Look, it worked! He reinstalled IOS58 and the hackmii installer accepted it as vulnerable. Now he's running off IOS58. He can update the homebrew channel and use Not64. Running modmii will not give him any added functionality. I'll agree that those IOSes shouldn't be patched like that, but cleaning them up won't add any functionality.

Just pay someone to fix Your wii.
Why? It's fixed...

Good to hear. Sorry you've got some other guy in your ear giving you questionable advice.

HBC can be installed on fully updated system where IOS58 is not present.
So exploit must be somewhere else too.
Of course. When the hackmii installer runs it scans your IOSes to see which are vulnerable. Then it picks the "best" one and uses that one. IOS58 is THE best one so if you have a clean IOS58 you'll be able to proceed. If he had installed a clean IOS36 and NOT IOS58 then the hackmii installer would have only seen IOS36 as an option. The IOS the installer chooses to use is the one the homebrew channel then runs off of. He needed it running off 58 so now it is.
