I am new to the whole ds system and I own a 3ds XL. I was playing Monster Hunter demo last night and it just looked so blurry at times, like the lighting was all jacked up (sometimes too bright) I have never been a huge fan of 3d so maybe thats why? I couldn't play until I had to turn 3d off.....Is this weird?

Maybe a 3D glass will help?

I briefly had a 3DS XL, and in general, all the games were blurry compared to the original 3DS (The previous DSi XL didn't have a problem with blurriness, so it seems unique to the 3DS rebuilds). I can't attest to whether the lighting was off or not though :/

I don't have that problem on my 3DS, but I don't know what you mean by games looking blurry when the backlight is at max either...
People are actually saying games look blurrier with the 3D off because of the way the 3D screen is designed. I'm not sure I notice a difference.

Wat

I think the 3D in monster hunter is kinda the pop out kind instead of the pop in like most games have. I though most had dismissed the pop out as a generally bad thing but i guess not.
My dad dismissed the pop out kind as a good thing. He googled the 3DS a while back and came to me and was like "The 3DS sucks because it can't do pop-out 3D", later when I got a game that had pop-out 3D I told him it could but he seemed to have forgotten all about it.
Anyway, myself I like the pop-out kind, it seems to give more of a visible effect. The other kind I just get used to after a few seconds and I have to actually turn 3D off and back on to make sure it's actually working because I have a hard time noticing it. Though that can happen with pop-out effects too. It comes more down to the small screen size limiting the possible depth. I've never gotten used to the 3D effect while watching a movie in the cinema, even when I saw The Hobbit which was rather long.

The 3DS XL does nothing that different. If there is an issue with the 3D it's related to the game. I have both the regular and XL of the 3DS and personally I enjoy the XL for its further sweetspot and bigger screen. Less stress on the eyes when things are moving fast. I did notice the XL doing the pop out a lot better if not more often than the regular 3DS, in fire emblem the grass in battle comes out of the screen a bit while on the regular 3DS its all inward.

Hahaha, happens to me as well, I just get used to it, and see it as a normal thing, but same thing happens to me when watching 3D movies in theaters as well.
