I can't imagine modding the vWii mode on the Wii U to be worth it. It seems risky, and there doesn't appear to be any way to return it to factory settings. What if I have to send in my Wii U as a whole in to Nintendo for some unforeseen problem with the system it self? What if Nintendo recognizes modded Wii U's and simply doesn't allow virtual console stuff to transfer over at the discount? What if they don't and everyone uses it to cheat them out of money?
I don't know. Is there ANY real benefit to modding vWii mode? You could argue backups, but if you are truly only running backups of your games then it shouldn't be a problem to just stick the game disc and play (you pirate...). The ONLY bit of homebrew I can think of that I may want is DIOS MIOS for Gamecube backups, but I don't recall if they ever made it so classic controllers could work with it or if it even works at all on a Wii U (I imagine it wouldn't).
So yeah, I don't think it's worth modding my Wii U's vWii mode. Not until they find a way to use the gamepad as a second screen and classic controller and all that. And I'm fairly sure that's not going to happen, ever.
