It has come to our attention that nobody seems to have any idea what the past 4 posts have been about. In an attempt to clarify things, we have prepared a handy diagram:

They have a weird sense of humour I guess. I see no one comments on their blog and even in this community there is little interest in developments in Wii U hacking.

Still let them entertain,

A and B refers to two different parts of the system or two different set of people. Hence the question mark refers to 30 hackers.

looks like we have related talk:
http://mirror.fem-net.de/CCC/29C3/m...en-writing_a_thumbdrive_from_scratch_h264.mp4

edit:
attack scenario:
- place any legit content on emulated usb drive
- ask wii to update or install it
- wii will read content and check signatures (which passes)
- usb will switch content for our one
- wii reads data for main update
- profit
The device pictured was not an "emulated USB drive", it's a debugging device. They patch stuff in memory to send debugging output etc. over it. It's a serial interface. (Somewhat akin to a USB Gecko on a Wii).
So sometime within 8 to 30 days there will be a big announcement, cool.
Yet again, the numbers are not a countdown; they are the number of days between the release of the WiiU and finding the relevant hash.

Whoever said no interest is foolish. Stop to avoid flaming. VWii, vwii nand, wii u, wii u nand or fully unlocked. Good guess?

You say this as if it's been explained already.....

I was being a bit sarcastic as I have no idea what the numbers mean, but I believe you are only partially correct as with your interpretation, there would be no need for a "?" in the equation......

The ? represents something different, the numbers mean exactly what I said. 8 days after the WiiU was released in Europe, fail0verflow released a SHA1 hash in a blog post named "8 days". 11 days after release, they released another in a post named "11 days". Same for 14 days and 30 days.

And this has been explained before, if not in this thread then in the several other threads about these hashes.

OK, so if you know it all, why don't you share?

I'm sorry if I don't have the time or effort to keep track on what day number something was released and I'm sorry it's such a pain your having to explain it all "yet again" but if it is really that much of an inconvenience, why bother posting at all?

Ya, things are really much better and well explained there.....

I will check back later--promised the kids some Hungry Hungry Hippo play;-) Hopefully some great news. I WAS thinking the question mark in the corner is either the FIRMWARE key for the drive, but more likely full kernel control. If I get homebrew on the Wii U anytime soon (within a few days), that would make my 2012 (so far, lmfao).

I don't know it all, and I have shared (some of) what I do know. The whole point of the picture though is that it's a "game"; it's up to you to figure things out.

OK, but if it is what you say it is, why the A and B columns....I just think your explanation is too simplistic, no offense meant--this time!!:P

They represent separate things. i.e. two of the hashes (8 days and 11 days) are related to one thing ("A") and the other two (14 days and 30 days) are related to another thing ("B").

So what are A and B? Well that would ruin the fun :P

Nice one!

Perhaps you should take a look into #wiiudev from time to time lol.

my vague, conceptual stab in the dark :

whatever it is that they got the hash of on day 8 helped them get into what they got a hash of on day 11. Whatever B is is harder to get into but it communicates with A so they may have used what they learned in A to crack into B and get the hash they got on day 14. What they got on day 14 was really useful because even though it took them like two weeks this time, with a little help from others it gave them access to three other things on day 30 (2 hashes from that post and the hash on the "clarification" that they said they forgot to mention.)

The question mark, their either still looking for something but they know where it is or they finally got something they were looking for the whole time and they just don't wanna tell what it is.

WHAT the separations are, A and B, I can think of a few things that are separated on the Wii U
- there's 1gb of memory for the OS and another gb for the game.
- there's user mode and supervisor more (kernel access) on both procs, Expresso and Starbucks
- there's the two procs themselves, PPC and ARM
- there's the NAND used in vWii and the bigger, separate NAND chip used in Wii U mode.

... as far as all this, the two items inside A could be what the Wii U uses to get BACK to Wii U mode and once they convinced them to give the hackers control, they could have been used to get into Wii U mode (B) while still in control of the system. Maybe they then hacked the Wii U wide open and got into the Wii U kernel (30 days) and now just need to get at the ? which would be the key to making it all permanent and unblockable by Ninty.

Good guess :)

I didn't know that the vWii had a seperate Nand Chip. Maybe the communicate together since the Wii U scans the vWii at boot ? => jump from vWii Nand to Wii U Nand...

The Image reminds me of the security connection between Broadway and Starlet on the Wii...we will see what happends in the next weeks :)

Someone on Neogaf postet that they have Kernel Access and it would be unpatchable by Nintendo through FW-Updates...but never heard of him before.
