Hardware Just built my gaming PC

I finished my PC less than a week ago and wanted to share it with everyone. I also have a question about my temperatures.

Case: Zalman Z11 Plus HF1 Red LED High Performance Mid Tower Case Black USB3.0
Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Socket LGA1155, 3.4Ghz, 6MB L3 Cache, 22nm (Retail Boxed) Gen3 (BX806237I53570K)
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL9 Dual Channel Kit (F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H Socket 1155 Intel Z77 Chipset
Video Card: ASUS (ENGTX560 TI DCII/2DI/1GD5) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB GDDR5
Power Supply: NZXT HALE82 650W 80Plus Bronze Certified Modular PSU

From the little bit I know of computers, I think this is a good build. I made it mainly for Guild Wars 2 and some Steam games. Do you think it's a good build?

Regarding the temperatures, I read that the cores when idling should be 27 degrees Celsius but mine are at 30 - 32 normally. My minimum is 25 on one core and 26 on the other 3, but my max goes up to 40 on all 4. Is it normal for it to spike like that or could there be something wrong?

It was my first build so I did a lot of research for parts. I didn't expect it to be original.

What do you think about the temperatures?

Mine fluctuates literally from 0 degrees idle to about 67 max while gaming. My roommate has a PC very similar to yours and his temps are about the same as yours

Nice computer, parts seem like they're becoming standard nowadays to what is "expected" to be a gaming computer. How's the performance in Guild Wars 2? Been thinking about either making a new computer soon enough or just simply buying a laptop for school and programming.

Thanks! Guild Wars 2 runs as smooth as can be at high settings. I'm not really interested on maxing games out for graphics, I'd rather just enjoy smooth game play.

Unless you're using some liquid nitrogen or decentralized liquid cooling from a freezer, you will never see the computer read 0 degrees. At the most basic level, a computer cannot go below the ambient temperature of the room it's in (22 C in my room).

@Splych, I can run GW2 maxed out on a i5-2500K and GTX 560 Ti.

@Sagat, as long as it's under 80 C or so when gaming, it'll be fine. My CPU tends to peak at around 40 C and GPU at around 60 C. Idle I'm seeing 26 C.

Nice idling temperature. I'm going to test some hard gaming and see what my temps reach. I read if it's over 70 on a non overclocked machine, it's too high. I just did some research on cooling and came across cpu fans that are massive. From what I read they have lots of nickel on them to distribute the heat evenly on a larger surface, thus reducing the temperature. I'm not sure how much the temperature would be reduced by, but f my temps are too high while gaming, I may invest some money into one of those.

That's a really good computer. I play Guild Wars 2 on mine, but I wish I had a better graphics card sometimes. I'm still using a HD 5770. You should have no trouble at all with your setup.

I know some of the AMD FX chips had wonky temp readings. Myself and others have seen our chips reach >9 C idling.

Nice gaming build! My build from a few weeks ago is pretty similar (same CPU, same RAM, similar GTX 560 Ti GPU). I know you said you prefer a smooth frame rate over maxing out graphic settings, but lately I've been playing Borderlands 2 and Skyrim with maxed settings and everything is as smooth as (insert extremely smooth thing here), without so much as even a momentary stutter when tons of stuff crowds the screen. I'd wager your results would be similar, so don't be afraid to crank up the settings and see what it can do.

Try maxing the settings out as some of the other members said and see how that turns out. I am sure your computer can handle it.

@Originality - well that's good reassurance. I was thinking about purchasing a Phenom II x4 to upgrade the old Phenom II x2 in one of the computers lying around in my house ~~but sadly, I can't seem to find them in stock anymore. should've just bought them earlier this year when the stocks were getting low...~~

EDIT: I spoke too soon. Found some in stock at NewEgg and TigerDirect, so will likely upgrade the processor in that computer.

Mine idles around 20 C and goes up to 55 C when under load. If I OC it, it'll go to 67 C maximum. I have a 7850. Also, I have an i7 2600k which idles around 35-37 C and goes to 65 C under load.

Your temps are perfectly fine. As others have mentioned, you shouldn't be worried unless it's above 80 C or so.

Thanks! I did some research and have found that my temperatures are normal. I was just a bit worried because my brothers computer has lower idling temperatures. Turns out I was worried over nothing.

Not sure if it can play that, was never really interested in those games. And thanks for the compliment.

Edit: SO I maxed out GW2 graphics and it's running at 70 fps, which is really smooth. So far my temps have just touched 60 degrees Celsius.
