Ahh! I don't actually have Mario Kart DS on my M3 at the moment (I've got the proper cart, so no need) but if I can unlock extra tracks then I'll do it in a shot.
I don't ever play it online so I'm not really interested in unlocking every track for online play, just I want to drive around these new tracks in all of these YouTube videos

Err, I'm pretty sure you can run offline courses with a Supercard/m3/anything with a newer patch I found. PassMe or FlashMe, tested on both. Doesn't seem that anyone has linked it... I still have a copy on my miniSD and I can upload it if anyone wants it.

Put file on m3/supercard (dont convert it)
Put Passme w/MKDS or just MKDS with FLahsme into slot 1
turn ds on
Run patch --MKDShack.nds--
Wait about 5-10 seconds
Go on Wifi and the cources will be easily selectable

It doesn't work with my PassCard & G6 Lite.
I put "MKDSHack.nds" in my G6 (just copy without patching with the software).
Turn on my DS with the PassCard and the G6. At the main menu, I remove the Passcard and insert my MKDS Game, I load the MKDSHack.nds but I have withe screens...

I've been doing this for a while with my m3 - basically you just need to apply an ips patch to the rom. The downside is you are limitted to 12 tracks; the upside is you can pick exactly what tracks you want from the 20 available - and the order in which they appear on your selection list.

it do works really fine for me
Lite+flashme+original Mkds cart+M3 mini Sd
(patched the clean rom, copied to the Sd via windows -no m3 manager-
opening it by pressing Start, 4 seconds white screens, than you got it)
