Chill guys ... i know were you are comming from with the whole "Easy way out " and morality thing .
But arent you a litle hypocritic ? Everyone of you have installed homebrew and even USB loaders .
We are talking about Big N here .The store isnt like its gona lose money .So whats your problem ?
I am more afraid of the guys personal information . We dont know what Big N will do with that .
He could be facing a big problem in the future, even court . Isnt that enough ?
IMO if the guy can somehow stay anonymous from them by deleating his e-mail acc or something
he should do it . Big N will like nothing more than to have court cases about hacking as soon as possible .

I don't think any one so far is expecting a court case to ensue, especially since Nintendo has had many opportunities to do so already, and has instead opted to just not repair the console. The only issue being pointed out that would affect him personally is possibly having his NNID banned.

All the complaints are merely because of that huge complaint topic of his about how hard it was to update to even GET vWii functionality --- and then he throws it all out the window with an ill-researched hack (backups on vWii) and further screws up by installing a hack which is explicitly stated as bricking (priiloader) --- and finally abuses the return system to return a console which was not factory damaged but rather ruined by his own fault.

Like big n hasn't already scoured for info on sites like this and hacked a few wiius themselves? I highly doubt that they will learn anything they dont know from my slightly hacked and bricked vwii.
Yes, they do. They'll learn that their return policies suck.

Christ...I've seen you post on the wii forums, drakorex. How come you didn't know that priiloader replaces the wii's system menu? (I've only parrotted it...what? At least a dozen times). And even if you did know...the priiloader installer itself puts up a warning on the kind of change it's going to do.
Really...if you skip all the warnings and don't check for what works...this is the sort of result you'll get.

No, we're not. We're talking about ownership and responsibility here. My wii (or wiiu) is mine. As such, they can't prohibit us from doing with it what we want with it, provided we keep things legal. However, they are entitled to void the warranty of the thing. That's part of the bargain...the price of freedom, so to say. You can mess with your console, but you can't go on crying if the thing breaks.

And what do you mean, "isn't like its gona lose money"? They're selling their console at a loss (albeit minimal). So yeah, they ARE losing money on ignorant people who brick their consoles and exchange them for a new one.

However, I don't think it'll come to a court (this isn't a witch hunt). At best, they somehow manage to throw a fine his way for the repair of the first wiiu. That was what it was with the wii, and I don't think things will be much different here. They may not like it, but we're still customers who occasionally do controversial stuff like actually BUYING games. ;)

I really dont see how they could id me or anyone else by information on the wiiu. I haven't purchased anything with a credit or debit card from eshop, I paid cash for the system, and the most personal info on there is my email and area code. Unless I forgot something.

He made a mistake and didn't read/understood enough what he was going to do, that's a fact.
One users told him, and a second, and another, and again.
But I guess he understood now, he doesn't need every one to criticize and mock him for what he did. It's done, too bad.

Try to help, and if there's nothing to do, be sorry and think what could be done to prevent another user to the same mistake.
Help other users better, put warnings when you give links to potentially risky homebrew, etc.
I know that it's not possible to prevent it 100%, but we should help each others the best we can.

He got a new WiiU (which I hope won't be bricked), he should be happy that the shop exchanged it.
Other users might not have that chance.

@Drakorex
Thanks for not feeling attacked and not replying angrily at their comments.

I sure hope that the store it was take back to to trade it in had the ability to send "defective" units back to Ninty and didn't try to just resell it as an open-box item. Remind me to avoid buying a "slightly used" Wii U console. I, for one DO want my vWii working.

And onde more question, let's say they couldn't run a Wii U version of Homebrew channel, if still continue like now, just in wii mode, they can use the extra power of Wii U even in the Wii mode to upgrade the emulators, for example?

Nope, or at least not yet. They can use the Wireless N networking and the other USB ports, I think, but they can't use anything else. (If they can use anything else, they just haven't figured out how yet but it seems so far that it's all physically turned off when in Wii mode.)
