Anyone ever thought about spray painting the DS Lite?

I spray painted my xbox and it looked really nice. So I was just thinking about the DS Lite.

Just throwing this out there since noone has talked about it.

Some guy sprayed his phat ds blue somewhere on this board.
I was hoping this would be a thread on maybe changing the health screen to display a custom pic or something. Dang.

I would never spray this, i love the glossy white it's in already hehe.

Maybe if you use professional car paint you can pull it off but even with the best I wouldn't last due to the plastic texture. If it was a more sanded like thing It would be pretty easy...

I would advise against spray painting the xbox as you could quite easily block air flow and cause a nice bit of heat buildup (the thing does not exactly run cool to begin with).
If you do though use a high quality paint (mask sections of your DS as well and consider dye as well, there exist many great vinyls as well though (you will have to search for these I am afraid but there are many in shops worldwide).

Oh and urbanmindz did a nice LED mod:

On the subject of custom screens and stuff there is FWNitro I suppose but no easy method as far as I know: http://zzo38computer.cjb.net/nitro/fwnitro/

Edit:
At the post below, high quality dyes work well, I can assure you of this.
As for the spraypaint, between people being careless and paint running blocking thigns up is a fairly high chance. I would still advise against it when there are so much better methods.

UMM when you spray paint the xbox you usually take it apart. So the chances of blocking airflow are very small. You obviously dont know much about painting. Also dyes would look EXTREMELY ugly and blotchy.

If you are going to spray paint your DS lite I highly suggest taking it apart to do so. It will look more professional. You also wouldnt have to worry about getting paint in cracks and such. Just follow an ipod painting tutorial for painting the DS as the plastic is very close to being the same. Maybe sand the whole outside with 2000 grit sand paper to make the paint stick.

that guy that painted his DS didnt spray paint it. He painted it using model paint and a paintbrush. You can see in the pictures that he used a pretty big brush too.

Edit: HORRID grammar
