I love this kid (she's 20, and she's immature as all get out sometimes), and she's dating a much older woman. (45 + has kids and is in the process of divorcing her husband for my friend). Let's call my friend A, and her gf B. I've been seeing A as a friend for years - we met at the beginning of university, and became fast friends because of our views on politics and religion and relationships. I've even bought plane tickets for A. I've been introduced to B once, and judging from the conversations on fb, she's a downright jealous person, and A actually doesn't mind that. (That is so wrong, if your partner does not trust you a lick...yeah, there's a problem.) The warning signs are continuing - A is spending a shit ton of money on her with presents, plane tickets and other things. (Her last phone bill - $400; and keep in mind her mother pays for the damn thing.) That's not the problem yet - those are her choices.

A couple of weeks ago, my friend A asks me what I want for christmas. We do this each year - set a $20 limit on presents and buy stuff that is needed or wanted. Last year she got me the box set of Big Bang Theory dvds. This year, looking at my terrible sock drawer, I ask for underwear, graphical tee-shirts and socks. Well, I got a really pissed off fb msg from the gf asking "Why am I asking for HER gf for underwear?". I'm already pissed off because I'm working on an assignment and had computer problems. I go, I asked because I needed them - and she gets even more pissed off and accuses me of having sexual attraction to my BFF. I get pissed off, because I hate cheating with a passion, and even being accused of it makes me see red. (I don't approve of her relationship with my friend because both of them are irresponsible idiots who haven't grown up - they fuel each other! An example - I warned both of them that they would have to pay my university to park in the space. Three hours later, they reveal that they didn't because it was too hard to figure out. I got mad because the woman is fourty five years old and should be fucking responsible - they were too busy acting like horny teenagers for that!

Well, I asked because I needed undies, graphical tee-shirts and socks. Not because I wanted her to spend fifty dollars on fucking dvds.

(Oh, I'm totally not attracted to A - she's pretty much a little sister to me. I have more tingling in my pants with my stuffed animals...)

What do you think, 'tempers - did I lose my cool for no reason?

Well you already seem to have your answer, but no I would probably react in the same way, probably tell B to stop being a cheeky cunt as she knows nothing about me, but I wouldn't want to lose my BFF either so...

Personally I think the bigger question is where can you get a decent line in socks, shirts and underwear for $20 or less?

As for the matter at hand I rarely encourage losing one's cool* but after jumpstarting the understanding human emotions chip I would not say that mentioning something would be out of line.

*that said laughing or dismissing someone that has just flown off the handle seems only to aggravate things more.

lol I'm a little unsure about the purpose of this rant... Are you looking for moral support in condemning the gf's audacity to be jealous of you? A sympathetic response that affirms your feelings about her? Or are you waiting for someone to analyze how you've acted inappropriately? I've seen complaints against unreasonable gfs on Afterellen and how supportive some AE'ers are of others who feel the same way as them, and I think you might wanna post on their forums if you don't get the desired response from here.
