I've just started playing Metroid Prime 1 on my Wii. I'm trying my best to scan everything, but scanning both sides of the doors & just all the other random crap gets kind of ridiculous. I just wanted to know if scanning all of the random stuff is necessar, or if I'm only suppose to scan enemies & important stuff like that. & if I do have to scan all the doors & boxes, that just tell me pointless info most of the time, what do I get in the end?

Scanning all the misc. info isn't all that necessary. The enemies, certain devices (i.e. Spider Ball Tracks after you got Spider Ball), and Lores (on monitors, or some ruin symbols) is what you should focus on if you're aiming for 100% scan book. Remember that some logbooks are missable so be sure you scan them first time around.

Oh and in the earlier installment that's not on the Metroid Trilogy pack, you only get a sense of achievement. :P
