I am not sure if any of you have ever tried to use CFG mod to play
a multi-disc GC game. (so far only "devolution" can support this)

Here is the instruction to use CFG mod r37 beta10 (currently only this version
of CFG works) to play a multi-disc GC game.

1. Make sure to put "loader.bin" of devolution to \usb-loader\ folder.

2. Rename ISO file of disc2 to gam2.iso and put in the same folder as disc1.
(EX: usb:\games\whatever folder name\ )
It means you only can see disc1 (game.iso) shows in the game list.
(so there are game.iso and gam2.iso in the game folder)

3. Load/Start disc1 and when disc2 is required (like this picture below),
just simply click on "Eject button". Then the disc2 iso file should be loaded
automatically.

** Excuse me for these "Japanese" because I don't have other
multi-disc GC games.
I would like to attempt this... except that there's one rather large problem with that.

First, I would actually need to be able to rip the second disc in a given multi-disc game... and so far, config-usb Loader is not giving me that ability at all. To summarize what happens is...
  1. I insert the second disc at the install prompt
  2. cfg-usb recognizes it is a "disc 2" of a game I already ripped disc 1 of.
  3. I press A on my Wii-mote to have it install the second disc.
  4. cfg-usb seems to pause for about two or three seconds, then...
  5. cfg-usb prompts me with the options to download covers or eject DVD, as if it already ripped the entire contents of Disc 2 for me. Naturally, this is highly suspicious since I know the Wii's DVD drive is not nearly that fast.
So I can't even get cfg-USB to even RIP the games in the first place, much less be able to rename the second disc's ISO in order to use devolution as you describe. So, um... what do I do? so far the only games I need to finish ripping are Gamecube multi-disc games (RE 0, 1, and 4 if it matters any).

You could try manually renaming the disc 1 rip temporarily until you get disc 2 ripped or try ripping disc 2 first and then rename it to gam2.iso and then rip disc 1.

Not sure if either method would would just giving suggestions

May I know which CFG (mod) version did you try ? As far as I know the older version
(EX: mod r37 ) should work.

The alternative is you can use CleanRip ( http://code.google.com/p/cleanrip/downloads/list )
to rip your ISO. Then you may manually change the filename to game.iso (disc 1) and
gam2.iso (disc2) .........................

I'm using mod48... since thus far, it's been the ONLY version of cfg-USB that I've tried that will allow me to rip to anything other than the SD card.

I've tried Cleanrip as well... though that hasn't exactly helped me much; yes, it would claim to rip the games, but then it gives me a bunch of different files... none of them a .iso, and none of them visible to cfg-USB.

At least one file has to be a .ISO, if not, you are either not using Cleanrip v1.05, or are using a wrong cIOS for ripping. I can say for sure it works with D2X v8.

According to HBC, I am/was using Cleanrip 1.0.5; I know I'm running a d2x, provided via ModMii's wizard (thank you, ModMii). Can't remember precisely which version/edition. Anyway, re-ripping RE4 disc 2 on it to see what happens..

Is this the "never seen in any other loader" feature you mention in the GoogleCode page? :P
And this needs the WiiWare games to be installed on the real or backup NAND, right?
It would be really nice if it could be run directly from the WAD file! Is it possible?

No, this is just the "NAND channel emulation" :P
For now the WiiWare/Channels etc. need to be installed on the backup nand.

A little hint:
The feature that "you have never seen in any other loader" has something to do with savegames.

Hello everyone, noob to the boards here, with a question.
I been using CFG USB Loader for over a year and i am really happy with it.
Been keeping up with updates, getting them from the software itself, so I got no readme with the newest versions, therefore I have the following questions, after finding no answers with google and a search on these very forums:

- If I understood correctly, GC game support happens by copying the selected game to SD and then launching from there, right? I tried to rip a game to my USB NTFS partition but the software crashed (sorry, I didn't take a pic of the screen. Can try it again. The game was Ikaruga)

- I want to try NAND emulation (I got 70r48) and I am not really sure how to activate it. I have used Mighty Channels before so I have a full NAND backup residing on my SD card. The System window of CFG shows a path called "NAND Emu Path" and it;s set to "usb1:/nand". How do I change this to make it sd:/nand ? I tried editing the config.txt file on the SD card, but there's no such thing as that path. Where is this stored and is it possible to use the SD card for that even though the rest of my games are on my USB1 device??

Any help appreciated and sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

Been away from Wii for over a year so I have alot of catching up to do. Just updated my config usb loader for first time in 2yrs. was wondering...

1. I noticed when you click on a game in gui mode you now get an extra gui menu. I dont like this and would rather have it goto the list view when I select a game from coverflow view. is this possible? if so how do I make this adjustment?

2. I want to play gamecube games off my usb hdd via config usb loader. but my wii hasnt been updated in 2yrs. guessing I have alot of work ahead of me. Im on wbfs, updated configu usb loader, my iso cso (whatever) are way outdated), and have no idea what the latest tools I need to be using. I havent even installed a new game in over a year!. So somene point me in the right direction on getting updated on the latest and greatest. read I'll need to use fat32 if I want gamecube to work? no idea what needs to be done HELP?

You need to install dml only to run directly from SD GC games or DM to run from usb. In both cases they have to be fat32. If your hdd is ntfs with dml and cfg loader you will only be able to see games from ntfs drive. If you start it(from ntfs), the loader will copy the entire game in SD and only then you are able to run it. Note that you need about 1.40gb in SD for each game or less if you compress it and rip games before you install dml because you won't be able to run GC games from disc.. you need to reinstall mios again over dml if you ever need to. For more info check a guide there.

If your experience any problems running wii games or running apps then maybe as last option you have to update your softmod. It is important to remember what did you do or what guide did you use in that case.

is there any chance that config loader will have a game banner view option like gx loader does as opposed to the current text based/box art based main screen?
