Gaming Graphics Issues

Ok. I've been having this issue where occasionally I get this message that my graphics driver failed and was recovered. Almost immediately after I get solid color blocks on my screen, and they randomly appear when I scroll through lets say a web page. I believe this has only happened during games. If I do have a browser open though and scroll through a website after this occurs the blocks multiply in random places. I've tried completely removing the drivers, reinstalling them. Still happens. I will list hardware as I don't know where to start.

Syncmaster 206BW 20" Monitor
HP 2009M 22" Monitor

I monitor the hardware temps and they don't get anywhere near too high. CPU idles at 19C and maybe 36C under load., GPU idles at 49C and gets to 62 tops under load. Heres a small pic of what happens, but it gets worse. Rebooting seems to fix it for some time. Any opinions? I will add the CPU,Cooler,Ram,SSD, Motherboard are all less than a month old. Sometimes I'll game for a few hours and it never happens, other times within an hour. Unsure at the moment.

Visual artifacting, that's a GPU issue. I saw this shortly before my GeForce 6200 died, and with increasing regularity/severity on my HD 5770 until I got it replaced under warranty.

So the only possibility is the GPU is dying? Too bad I bought it off someone. No chance of RMA unless I can pull something slick off with Sapphire.

...yes, it's a possibility...

I think your GPU or the memory on your graphics card might be suffering from overheating. Check the temperatures and if you find them too high, consider checking that by underclocking both by a few notches. If that doesn't help, it's likely that the hardware is damaged.

either contact the person who sold it to you and ask if he still has the invoice or photoshop an invoice from a computer hardware store.

Well. I will try to contact him. If I have no luck I will most likely purchase a new card. Hate to spend the money, but I guess I'll have no choice. I have a 9800gt sitting in the closet for a backup if need be. Would this be a good upgrade from the 5770?

Edit: I did manually turn the fans up last night after cleaning the unit. I reseated the card in the lower pci slot to keep it further from the cpu heatsink, and set the fans to 70%. It seemed to help, but when playing Arma Operation Arrowhead the gpu still got to 56C. Just an fyi.

Anything under 60C is perfectly fine. Also I can expect up to 80C from the graphics card when gaming for a long time (Guild Wars 2), which is still perfectly fine. That said, I never see the CPU poke above 50C or the GPU above 60C.
