I just experienced something weird. While verifying games (I have not verified all of them) I accidentally opened Beyond Good and Evil (Pal Germany) and it wanted me to verify. So I did, because I figurd it might work in the future. And here is the funny thing, it works now. HOWEVER i need to re-verify the game every single time I start it. Not that much of a problem, but here is the enxt funny part, it only works half of the time. I dont change anything on the setup, sometimes it works, sometimes it returns to HBC. Weird. Probably a reading error of the HDD?

Mah, what is it with my damn broken HDDs? Now I have to re.veriy all discs always. it worked yesterday. Stupid crap...

EDIT2: I found the error. Broken USB Cable. Beyond Good and Evil PAL GERMAN Works!

Are you using the sample loader? There have been strange reports of games always requiring verification if Devolution is started from other loaders that rely on CIOSes.

I tested F-Zero GX again (Devolution r128) now with a dump image of my unofficial memory card used as an emulated memory card, seems like my savegame loaded fine (no prompt to erase corrupted save file or format memory card), of course, after loading the game locks up.
So unofficial memory cards dumps seems to work?
I think there is no reason it to not work.

What are these BCA files and what are DVV files I read about? And what about the rumours about file system corruption?

r128 is now up.
- fix audio streams not playing when a stream is queued immediately after the current stream is cancelled
- audio fix for XGIII
- fix wifi logging for networks which are slow to initialize
Why would I include a patch for a non-working game? It works and has been confirmed working by more people than the amount claiming it doesn't work. Frankly I'm pissed off that I spent $20 getting a copy shipped from the US to test with only to find that it works perfectly fine:

afaiac wiismodrome can suck it, his log from r115 is completely messed up (filesize is wrong, cluster chain for the .iso file is all sorts of messed up) and the SD log in the same post that is supposedly from r124 is bullshit - wifi logging didn't work in that build. On top of that he's got a misbehaving hard drive (despite it being the same model as my own), has a history of messing around installing/uninstalling various modchips (despite claiming his wii is "unmodified"), and has reported other games as non-working when in fact it was an isolated problem with his setup (log shows cars.iso being only 1319108608 bytes, he later re-added the wiki entry as working after I removed it based on this).
I think the same as you, I think his wii is more raped than a whore.
But again... I also confirm that verification do not works with XGIII.
My HDD has always worked well with all, with any homebrew, with any game, always.
I checked out the hashes of the game and they matches with redump.org, my HDD is not fragmented, and my wii has no chip and never had any.
It is the first game that brings me to HBC when trying to verify it.

So now I confirm, is not an isolated problem... at least with XGIII.

Ugh, I sure wish someone would send me a copy of XGIII USA... I spent my money for games on some crazy titles and now wish I could test this one... I am wondering now if the problem could be "drive related" .. Sounds crazy, but what else explains how some people have it working and others not..

I myself am skeptical and feel bad you get a couple of people caught b/c 1 is trying to help out and finds what could be legitimate issue (despite yes having a pretty dirty Wii at times.) and making possible mistake of submitting log w/ tainted dump. (even I tried discex on all my dumps and some did work w/ ap check, most not ) but I learned hard way also not to submit that data.. Regardless, from developer end it's hard to put faith in that b/c of ithe situation at hand and with others reporting it working (I myself saw it work with a friend at the local used game store) but I didn't want to spend the $25 price tag for it.. That still doesn't discredit the issue that could be at hand and if i think it is resolved (if it is really one) we need to name the bug after the person who caught it!! I am sure credit will be given.. As for my friend at the game store, I do not know his setup and never asked, he mentioned he had star patch (?) installed onetime, don't know if this affects anything.

Then you have a developer who gets frustrated with all the inconsistencies (especially if people are reporting with units that have been around the block!) and images that aren't any "cleaner." but puting faith that this one is.. I'm sure he finds it hard to take who's data as being correct... So you can see why he can get frustrated so easily from this all! I'm sure his "test" version has different checks than ours and I'm not sure if "our" version was used to test this game but as with everyone - I want to put the speculation to rest.. Seems only one USA /NA version exists and if md5 is there, hmm...

I hope someone will send me this game! If we need to test different drives, I can send it on to someone else with a different drive.. Following all rules and laws, deleting the game (unless someone wants to send me it for free ;) ) I understand the market trying to be reached here and i'm sure none of us mind contributing to getting this resolved as there still maybe another title with similar problems.. I sure need some rest though, feel bad for the author now though b/c I imagine the lack of sleep on his end.. I'm getting a little grumpy though so better go get a little rest...

Anyone care to ship me XGIII USA?

Have a good evening guys. Happy gaming!

What are these BCA files and what are DVV files I read about? And what about the rumours about file system corruption?

BCA files are just files dumped by CleanRip for use with USB loaders for a specific copy protection bypass, though I think the only game that bothered enforcing that copy protection was NSMB Wii. DVV files are the files Devolution stores to keep track of your verified games. If you modify them in almost any way, you'll have to reverify those game.

The file system corruption rumours were all baseless, as far as I know. The last time it was mentioned was weeks ago, was it not?

..."drive related"......dirty Wii.....tainted dump.........discex.........star patch.
My wii reader is in perfect condition
My game dump is 1:1 with redump.org
I have not shrunk it with discex or anything
Star patch have nothing to do with this.

Then you have a developer who gets frustrated with all the inconsistencies
I know and it is not my intention frustrate him but I can not deny the problem if it is there.

Better than that, I send it to tueidj :ha:

Baseless, without evidence, without interes, and nothing.

I'm sure the two reports of corrupted HDDs weren't fabricated and the drives did really get wiped, but due to the nature of the corruption (and no other reports) I strongly doubt it was caused by Devolution

have not been around in awhile what does this do
It loads GameCube games from USB or SD without changing to GameCube mode.
It can handle audio streaming and emulates the modem adapter through the Wii's WiFi connection and can emulate memory cards on the HDD or SD as well.

I'm most looking forward to the GC/GBA link being emulated. Though I imagine that will take quite a lot more work. Haven't played FF Chrystal Chronicles in years because I (stupidly) traded in my GBA SPs for DS when they first came out.

Hopefully, VBA GX will implement the other end of this emulation, too. It'd be kinda cool to have a neighbor bring his Wii over for a four swords LAN party.

It's currently a bit further down the line, but it shouldn't be very difficult once I actually get to the stage of working on it. This is how things tie together:
- memory card emulation (done): uses generic EXI device emulation (added)
- wifi logging (done): uses backend network support (added)
- modem emulation (done): uses EXI device emulation + network support
- keyboard emulation (in progress): uses SI device emulation + USB backend
- GBA (todo): uses SI device emulation + network support
- microphone (todo): uses EXI device emulation + USB backend
- wiimote: uses SI device emulation + bluetooth + USB1 + various other crap like NAND access

So if I understand correctly, GBA connectivity should be pretty easy when you're done with keyboard support? Awesome :D

Unofficial and official memory card dumps work with Devolution, hope F-zero get fixed anytime soon

When I've inserted an usb gecko in slot B the disc verification crashes in r128, no matter what game is launched. When I take it out the verification process runs fine.

Once a disc is verified the game launches fine when the usb gecko is present. Here is oc the log.
