Gaming 3DS XL (4.1.0-8U) Compatible Flash Cards & Advice

Just picked up a 3DS XL today running stock firmware 4.1.0-8U.

People here seem to recommend the Supercard DSTWO as the best all around flashcard since it's the only one that can also play SNES & GBA games. Is there any way I could play Genesis games using the Supercard DSTWO?

Do you know if any retailers will set it up for me beforehand so that it works on the 3DS XL without any set up (I don't have a DS).

The DSTwo is the best flashcard out of all of the others. Mainly because it has a CPU that allows GBA and SNES emulation (albeit they both kinda suck) and it gets fast updates.

If all you want it for is DS games, then I'd say there aren't any product-decision cons out there. In fact, I'm not even sure what the cons might actually be if there are any.

EDIT: As for the compatibility with the system, you can update the 3DS to the latest firmware if you buy a DSTwo.

The DSTWO may use a tiny bit more battery than the average flash cart due to its extra chip that gives it that boost in power, setting it apart from the competition. That's about the only sort of con I can think of though. The DSTWO is definitely the best cart on the market. I'll leave the compatibility up to someone who actually has a US 3DS XL and DSTWO.

The R4i-Gold is kinda good if you're not into the DSTWO, just make sure you don't get a bad clone of it.
Ace-3DS is quite popular in Singapore. It's cheap too.

As for compatibility, it's the same as 3DS.

The DSTWO is #1 for it's features, ease, superfast updating and compatibility with DS games (like the early Pokemon B/W/B2/W2 straight from the ROM).

The con is price. That's all. The DSTWO doesn't really suck a lot of battery.

Who ever recommends you to get an Acekard 2i, I suggest not to listen to him/her..

Also, it's really up to you. Are you looking into playing just ROMs? If so, go with R4i Gold (r4ids.cn)

If you're looking into extra features for example: GBA/SNES emulation and more, then go with the Supercard DSTWO.

You can use JenesisDS on it just fine, which works okay for the most part. It doesn't take advantage of the extra power though, so it runs the same as it does on any other flashcart.

thats only becuase it literally just came out
you cannot base that its good when nintnedo didnt know about it when they did an update
also it doesnt have a trusted kernel supported at the moment as there new so new game could be a problem
its also more expencive than a r4ids.cn gold card

DSTwo best because
-updates under 24 hours
-Kernel plays any game and can remove ap without any updates, so no waiting for patches
-have gba emulation
-extra cpu for power

r4ids.cn R4i gold (make sure r4ids.cn version)
-updates under 24 hours
-supported by YWG for kernel so get game compatibility updates quickly

I have had an r4i gold 3ds for over a year now and i must say i really enjoy it. The team updates quick when there is need for a firmware fix plus it has wood support so games get fixed pretty quick. lucky you got 4.3.0-8U when i did a system transfer it made me update to 4.3.0-10U so i could do a system transfer.

That's why I didn't mention ones that are marked as 2011.

Attempting to visit many of the URLs listed will fail, as often the entire sites for older flash carts are gone.

FWIW I picked up a launch 3DSXL (first one at my store sunday morning!)... got a acekard2i from my dslite... i just had to not update (wish I could update just one version but not completely), so for now I'm OK enjoying my bigger screen to do stuff (yes, I always have the dslite worse comes to worse)...

Follow http://www.acekard.com/news.php and http://www.acekard.com/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=8928&extra=page%3D1&page=2 if you have or get a 2i, I think they'll come through but it does seem like other cards are currently being more actively updated.

Been using Supercard products since ~2006 and I can't imagine how someone could recommend something different. They're supporting their products for what seems like forever, have the best compatibility around besides maybe Acekard and more recently cards with Wood firmware and have more features than the cheaper cards (e.g. Realtime Save). Really, 40 USD isn't that much for what they offer, I can still remember the time when you paid five times that much for GBA or GBC flashkits, not to mention the absurd prices of N64 or SNES copiers back in the days.

Supercard or GTFO.
