Just install PriiLoader and install this hacks.ini file
http://gbatemp.net/t...x-43x-hacksini/
and turn on the hacks to block updates. It should load from the disk channel just fine.

I'm reading up on PriiLoader. Can it really brick the Wii? If so, what are the chances, I do not want to hear it back from them that the machine is now broken, and it's all my fault by telling them to do that.

If you have BootMii as boot2 it WON'T brick the Wii.

EVEN IF YOU DON'T as long as you don't unplug the Wii in the middle of the instalation you'll be fine. Just wait for it to get done. Even if it says the instalation failed, that just means it didn't make any changes to the Wii. (it's the same risk Nintendo makes you take when they tell you to do a system menu update on an unhacked wii) Once PriiLoader is in place it actually serves as additional brick protection.

Just grab the latest installer, make sure you have the latest HBC, and pray that your power doesn't go out during the few seconds of installation ;)

Is there a way to play wads off a HDD or SD without installing them to a NAND? I tried to install UNEEK+DI and it failed, and also SNEEK+DI, and it failed.
only with *NEEK. You need to install your WADz to a virtual NAND with something like showmewadz.
With a d2x cIOS and either WiiFlow or USB Loader GX you can run those with NAND emulation that doesn't require a xNEEK installation. There are some channels that just don't work that way but it's another option. There's also MightyChannels (old) but if I remember right you specifically need to have Waninkoko cIOS r17 installed (also old) for that to work which is not AS compatible with USB loading as d2x is.

If your failure to install xNEEK was just that you couldn't get the virtual NAND set up (which you would need for any of these setups anyway) I'm not sure if you tried building a clean NAND or ripping your Wii's NAND but ModMii can create the clean one and both WiiFlow and GX can rip your Wii's NAND to the HDD or SD as well as Simple File System Dumper (among other things) or you can extract a BootMii dump.

If it was the actual xNEEK that you couldn't get to start up, remember the first time starting it up can take quite a while (even after that, it's not an instant startup for me either.) and having PriiLoader (if you ripped your Wii's NAND) might not work as well.

Not really sure if this is considered a Noob question but heck better than starting a new topic right? Okay so I decided to jump on the DIOS MIOS train...ended up not liking it and am wanting to switch back to being able to load my retail games. Didn't realize it was gonna be this much of a pain either so hence I ask how the heck to do I revert back so I can play my Luigi's Mansion? xD

Just install a clean MIOS over the top of it (You can get the WAD for that in ModMii ... and a WAD manager if you like).

In the off chance that DM doesn't completely go away with just installing it, you can always tell the WAD manager to UN-install the WAD first and then RE-install it but that should do the trick either way.

I actually figured out what I was doing wrong...I forgot to install a clean BC...I feel like a moron now, I'm in no way new to the modding community but this time I feel like it haha. Thank you for your help regardless it is much appreciated!

I have Configurable USB Loader. I used modmii for downloading cheats and putting them on the hard drive. I don't know what to do next, is there a guide?

that all depends on what you want to do next. And I didn't know modmii downloaded cheats? O.o

I recently used the online letterbomb to softmod my wii. I have installed the homebrew channel. So now what do people recommend. I currently don't have a extra hdd drive so I want to run games off of a thumb drive.

I'd suggest using ModMii. It has a pretty complete list of what you'd probably need.
Among other things (all of which ModMii will give you) I'd suggest installing PriiLoader with hacks to block Updates to your system menu, etc, and install at least cIOS d2x (base 56 as 249 and base 57 as base 250) Then you would choose a backup loader to use (WiiFlow, GX, and CFG seem to be the most modern).

my wii doesn't let me install bootmii as boot 2. on the screen it says BootMii: Can only be installed as an IOS (purple letters) The installed boot1 version prevents a boot2 install (-2). Is this something that is common or did I mess something up somewhere?

That's normal on any Wii made after a certain date (mine is like that, too) just install it as a IOS and you'll be fine.

So I tried to install Modmii. When on the blue screen there are a lot of failed to download or install. After a bit it locks up and does nothing. It seems that hacking a wii is harder than I though it would be. Or it's just me and my luck where things don't work when I want them to.
