Just thought I'd make up a short list off the top of my head of things DM can't (yet) do or bug's people have reported. Some ideas are more wishful than others but I've included them anyway.
("Things that it would be nice if they were better", as a summary.)

- Perfect NMM
- Forced widescreen
- Hard drive spindown (ping the drive to avoid it)
- 2 disk games
- Audio streaming
- Real disk cheats
- Real disk NMM
- GC homebrew
- DVD-R compatibility
- USB loading AND loading from SD
- Controller locking up (only Luigi's Mansion works) until running a game through the disk channel (one person says that didn't work either) I might add that on other threads people have reported this even with original controllers.
- DM always loading the disk in the drive (getting apploader size zero when it's a Wii disk in the drive.)

The last two could be some sort of setup problem since it only effects a small number of people but I'm at a loss figuring out what to tell people that they did wrong.
It would also be nice if someone made an app that would convert BOTH ways for NMM save files so they could be interchanged with real mem cards, but that's not

I'm sure I've missed lots of stuff but you're all welcome to pipe in whatever you want.

EDIT : edits added for v2.2

Just confirming Luigi's mansion plays through with no bugs DM 2.0.4/5.
Yup, I just finished playing through the whole PAL game forced NTSC (first mansion, not the hidden mansion yet) using only DM 2.0 updates 4 and 5 without that or any other noticeable bug.

also, can't play the PSO games.

In regards to Widescreen, do you mean forced widescreen? Because when I play my games through Component and select 480p they are pretty much all going widescreen.

That also happened to me, if I remember correctly with the DM2.0update4... i don't have the Luiguis Mansion game.
Strangely installing uneek2o+di and the DM for *neek (I think it was 3d) my 1st party/original controller worked, and now it works perfectly.

Anyway this isnt that big a deal at all but I'm having a bit of trouble installing the Forwarder wads, I just get error (1035) again this isnt a big problem but it would still be nice if someone knew how to fix it

Try different wad installer (eg. Wad Manager 1.7 or Wii Mod) and chose different cIOS in manager. This should help.

I tried Wad Manager 1.7 and also MMM's inbuilt wad manager, and I tried a few different ones like 249/236/etc is that what you mean by a different cIOS? Which one do you think it would work on? Ill give wii mod a shot later, thanks :)

That could be your TV doing it automatically. My Wega CRT does it automatically and with almost no distortion, I didn't even notice it (until I saw a list that certain games support 480P but not widescreen).

Thank you for the new release :)
And thanks for the new widescreen patch.

I thought the NODISC was removed only in 2.0, it was already removed in 1.0? I'll remove it completely in GX then, as it supports only 1.4+.

I see a new disc2 config and not a path2, could it be because swapping will be only supported by disc? or will it contain a path?
maybe nothing has been decided yet.

Edit:
If users are still using an old loader with config v1, does it use the old settings (changes not reflected on svn) or does it refuse to load at all?

Those getting a black screen when clicking "new game" in Baten Kaitos: EWatLO, try removing your memory card from Slot B. I was experiencing the same thing, then tried removing both cards and it worked. After that tried with just one memory card in Slot A, and it worked. Tried again with both slots filled and black screen of death.

To further test I installed cMIOS and burned the Baten Kaitos: EWatLO image to disk. Did not experience this issue when loading this way even with a card in Slot B, so definately a bug with Dios Mios.

I also had this issue with Baten Kaitos: Origins but have not tested it yet, will edit the post with my findings.

Edit: Yep, Origins works fine now with no memory card in Slot B, so could be the cause of games people are reporting that get the black screen of death. I also tried no card in Slot A, and only a card in Slot B, and black screen of death, so it's definitely a Slot B issue.

Hard drive spindown - it's a HDD not DM issue, I would't count on fix for it incorporated into DM, it would only take very limited space.
GC homebrew - since you have hacked Wii and you can use Wii HB what's the point?
DVD-R compatibility - since DM(L)'s point is loading games from SD or HDD I see no purpose of DVD-r compatibility, if you have hacked Wii that reads DVD-R you can just use a loader to read DVD-Rs
USB loading AND loading from SD - Creidar mentioned that he has very limited space in DM(L), so probabily DM and DML will stay separate, but yes it would be nice. On the other hand it's USB that was the ultimate goal :P and probabily more people will use HDD version anyway.

I'd say that the most important things right now is audio streaming and two-disc game support, the rest can wait (like NMM - you can get 2$ Mem Card or cheats - also it's not an essential thing to playing games). DM(L) is awesome and I do believe that those two things will be possible in the future - I keep my fingers crossed!

If you have correct IOS58 Wii Mod won't give you any trouble. Or at least it shouldn't.

Well I must say, 2.1 is behaving much better for me overall. Great work there.
The only issue I found out of 10 games I tested was Luigi Mansion where it got to the nintendo logo waited for 10 seconds, I heard the voice say nintendo, then the drive restarted (could hear the sound), then hung (EDIT: well maybe not hung - could reset the wii with R+Z+Start)
Aside from this, I'm having much more luck with DM these days. Can't wait to try more, including that forced widescreen. Thanks!

To clarify, when attempting to load a GC disc with 2.1, the screen switches to progressive and stays there. Because my TV only supports 480i, I do not know if it is stuck on the DIOS MIOS splash or not. It never switches back to 480i.

As a suggestion, I think it would make more sense for all video to be 480i only until progressive mode has been selected. This is because 480p output is not viewable on 480i sets, while 480i output is viewable on 480p capable televisions. As it is, those with 480i sets currently have no way to determine what might be on screen.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
