Im having a problem using the CFG USB loader.

I'd not updated it for a while (maybe a year) and have done so recently to version 70-222.

Now Im faced with a problem that in about 3 out fo 4 attempts when I launch the CFG USb Loader from the Forwarder channel, the screen just freezes on game selection screen - with the system time wrong showing 04:00

If I lauch the app through Homebrew channel > CFB USB Loader then it works every time.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this ????

I modded my Wii some years ago now so please go easy one me lol :)

Anybody know the common causes of dirty disk errors in DIOS MIOS? I keep getting them in Zelda : WW whenever the drive hasn't been used for a while. I hear the DVD drive spin up and the HDD just freezes. I have a Samsung 750GB S2 and games mostly work fine until they are left idle for a while.

Your hard drive is going to sleep and then when the game requires a new area of the game to be loaded the hard drive fails to spin up resulting in the error your seeing.

I thought this may be the case, I have never had issues with the very same HDD when playing Wii games or using homebrew ie emulators which only involve grabbing the rom every game change yet wiil still spin the drive up. This makes me belive its a DIOS MIOS issue rather than just my HDD or others like it that spindown to save power. I remember when USB loaders first came around for wii games people had similar issues but they have all disappeared now. Was there ever a fix?

You have to enable it in the individual game settings menu.

It stores the save file on a sd card instead of using a real game cube memory card.

Not all games support NMM though and will black screen/ code dump ext... when NMM is used on it.

Check the game compatibility list to see what games have issues with NMM.

support "Devolution" (thanks @[member='tueidj'])

* If you would like to use "Devolution" , please:

1. Read "Devolution" instructions carefully and clearly:
http://gbatemp.net/topic/330554-devolution-public-release/

2. In CFG, goto "Setting" -> "System" -> change "DML version"
from "1.2+" (default) to "DEVO").

3. Copy "loader.bin" (from http://www.tueidj.net/gc_devo_src.zip)
to \usb-loader\ .

4. Must have a SD(SDHC) card in your Wii. (for devolution
to create an emulation file: "memcard.bin" )

Love the fact that this has been updated to support Devolution but a couple things I want to ask? Would it be possible (as it already is with the official loader) for CFG to save the memcard.bin file to USB because at this point I don't like to use a SD card in my Wii for anything other than running SSBB mods? Speaking of memory cards, could you add the option for the user to choose whether they want to use a real memory card or the virtual one that is created by devolution (may be this could even be a per game option)? Also since it isn't specified can I assume GC games are to be stored in the games folder on the root of your hard drive? Will this interfere with my Wii games being stored on the NTFS partition of my hard drive? Can I assume that CFG can be used to download covers for GC games? I don't the Configurator can but can CFG itself?

That's all I have for now and I appreciate everything that everyone has done with CFG and I want to thank you ahead of time should any of the above requests be consider, :-)

It's possible to store "memcard.bin" to USB instead of SD and have an option
for user to enable/disable "memcard.bin" (when "devolution" is enabled)
I will study before issuing next beta version.

That's awesome to hear. I cannot wait for this next beta then, :-). I still have to ask though, does CFG look for GC ISOs in games folder on the root of the fat32 partition of the user's hard drive? Does any of this interfere with having Wii games stored on an NTFS parition. Lastly, CFG can download GC covers, right?

Yes, you should put your GC ISO under \games\GAMEfolder\game.iso .
(1st partition of FAT32 drive). Wii games can be put into the same
FAT32 partition or 2nd NTFS partition.

Downloading GC or Wii covers is a basic option in CFG .

Hello, I'm just not seeing it on how to install this program as a full channel so I don't have to keep the SD card in. Please help.

EDIT: NVM, some how I got it to work on the one Wii I was working on, now I just have to figure out how I did it for the other one :)

-Download an app called Wad Manager 1.7 to your sd card or flash drive
-You must have Homebrew Channel
- Cfg Loader Full Channel Wad file (found on cfg loader website)
-Brick protection in case something goes wrong. (Bootmii, priiloader)
-Note:This process can brick the wii if not done properly. Must be done at your own risk.

first extract wad manager to the root of the sd card or flash drive
Place the Cfg loader full wad file in the sd/usb
Start up the wii and go to the homebrew channel
launch wad manager

Here in the the menu of wad manager pick an IOS. I used IOs 249
Choose whether if you prefer emulated NAND or none.
From here you pick the device in which your Cfg loader channel wad file was placed.
Pick and install the wad file.
After installation is successful click HOME to return to Homebrew channel
You can now exit HBC and use the channel in the system menu.

If you got a problem please post. :)
