is one click IOS36 patching works
now?
Uhh... was it broken in a previous version?? I don't believe I have heard people were having issues with it so I haven't looked at it. If it is still broken describe the problems you are having and I'll have a look at it for the next release.

1) Have you tried other applications, or does HackMii Installer = any application?
2) Are you using the latest version?
3) Why haven't you answered my PM's :P

I have similar issue to massiverican.... I cant instal wads from usb, wiimod says mounting device, please wait ... ok, retrieving file list..... aaaaaaand it hangs... on every ios on every setting going.... :( MMM 13.4 works if I change my ios to 250 (d2x 250[57] v9 beta) I can install wads no problem....
Yep unfortunately atm usb is janky at best and only good for officially signed wads. I've made some progess on that for the next version but I'm currently busy moving and won't be able to finish the next version until after the move.
Any new news on this?

Hello there, I was hoping that someone may be able to help me out. I've been trying to mod this Wii of mine for awhile, I feel like I've tried just about every method that has come out since System Menu 4.3.

I have a launch Wii, I never modded it before, it hasn't been updated since last November, the system menu is 4.3U. I have used the HackMii v.1.0, the Letter Bomb method, most recently, the WiiBrand method. Every single time I get the "No usable or vulnerable IOS" message. I have attempted to use Dop-Mii to install some IOS files but apparently I can't. I have tried Wad Import and was able to import the latest version of IOS58 (though I believe I already had the latest version anyway). That didn't help. I tried to import IOS58 patched with the Trucha bug just to see if it would make any different, but no, Signature Check Failed.

I am at a complete loss here, I'm not sure if there's anything that I can do.

Yeah, I've used ModMii before. It's nice how it automates everything for those who don't know how to mod a Wii under normal circumstances, but unfortunately, that's not the problem. I know how to mod Wiis IF things go as smoothly as they should. Unfortunately, that is not the case with me. No matter what I do, and I've scoured the internet, I've spent the last nine hours on IRC getting help from people far more knowledgeable than me, I've tried to use YAWMMM, IOS236 Installer, WAD Importer, and I have no idea what else, but I always get that same "No usable or vulnerable IOS" message. Sometimes when trying to install an IOS I got hit with -2011 and I think -1017. I'm not even sure I need to install anything, I believe I have the important things, IOS34, 36, and 58. I've seen IOS236 mentioned now and then, I don't have that but from what it looks like I'd need to install that after I got the Homebrew Channel installed, so that must not be something I actually need to properly run HackMii in the first place.

Either I and everyone else that has provided aid thus far are missing one small step, or my Wii is simply a fluke.

Actually, you know what? Let's start from square one, maybe that will help.

I installed ModMii, and let it do its thing. One download failed, IOS37 I think. I don't have time to try it again right now so I'll try again later if need be. Anyway, ModMii installed several files and folders onto my SD card, a 512 MB card using the FAT 32 file system.

I put the SD card in my Wii, started it up and clicked on the WiiBrand letter on the message board. I was met with the "No usable or vulnerable IOS" message, and so was unable to proceed. What do you suggest I do now?

I think you need a 2GB card as your going to want to do a NAND backup later,(they are only $10) ... but whatever. You could always try a DIFFERENT exploit. I find the Indiana Jones exploit works very well, it will cost you $20 for the game though. But it's a good game :) The Wiihacks board I find has the absolutely most comprehensive list of exploits (like tonnes) and you might want to hang there for a bit to get Homebrew installed. Once that is done your home free. Question, how new is your Wii? can you move within the Hackmi menu with your Wiimote? There used to be a problem where you used to need an older Wiimote to do all the hacks, then when done you can upgrade to the most recent TR remotes that come in the newer Black Wii's. Unsure if that has been fixed yet.

I've tried this all with a 2GB card as well, only reason I'm not using it right now is because it's not on me at the moment. I've also used the SmashStack exploit but the results were the same.

My Wii is a launch Wii, I bought it myself at midnight. I've read through a lot of Wiihacks, I've also asked for help on the forum though everyone just ignored me. As for moving around the HackMii menu... No, I can't. There's really nothing that I could select even if I could. I'm using a Wii Motion Plus that came with Skyward Sword, though I also have access to Wii remotes from 2006.

Just for giggles, I decided to try using Multi Mod Manager to see if I could work some magic through it, I've tried it before about two months ago. For some reason, I can't use it anymore. No matter what Wiimote I use, the one that worked properly with it two months ago (The Wii Motion Plus that came with Skyward Sword) and one that I bought years ago will power off when I get into the menu and can't be powered back on until I reboot my Wii.

What the model number of the Skyward Sword Wiimote ? Wiihacks has a very comprehensive list to acertain if the remote is TR or regular

Also, I would try the older Wiimote for testing purposes. If you can't move around in the HackMii menu, I think that is a problem, there are a few selections there in the text menu and you go up and down in the menu. There is the A or B button (can't remember to initiate HackMii) at the Inital HackMii screen (it takes about 1 minute to load) and I assume you are getting beyond that.

Question, is there a link with some detailed info on all your Work, that would probably answer a tonne of my questions. That would probably give me a better frame of mind. And question, what do you mean about "Launch Wii", do you mean it was one of the original Wii back around 2003 or something like that. Or... is it a very recent Wii?

I use WiiMod now and have left MMM in the dust, now that MMM does not support newer TR remotes. To use WiiMod though, you must have Homebrew installed. Um,... is Homebrew installed...

I don't remember the model number but I checked it before to make sure its compatabile, and it is. Like I said, It worked fine two months ago. Then again I used the SmashStack exploit, this time I'm using WiiBrand, I'm not sure if that would affect it. As previously mentioned even a normal Wiimote that I bought some years ago won't work with it right now so maybe.

Yeah, I'm getting past the initial HackMii screen, the one with the scam warning where I have to press 1 to continue. After that is the message telling me to suck it. The only thing that I can interact with is >Exit, that just exits Hackmii and apparently sit at a black screen until I power off my Wii.

By launch Wii I mean that it is one of the initial batch that came out when the console was first released in 2006.

No, Homebrew is not installed, that's what I'm attempting to do. I need to get HackMii to stop telling me to suck it to do that.

Unfortunately I've asked all over the internet so I couldn't point you to any one source.

There have been several launch day wiis I have seen that are not compatible with the newer ahbprot hackmii installers. This is likely your issue also. Install hackmii installer 0.6, get boot2 bootmii installed and make a nand backup, install HBC. That is probably all you are going to be able to do. There are several things your could try, but they are not likely to work.
1- running bootmii.elf from bootmi
2- You could trucha patch every ios you have, then install a clean ios36-v1042 and see if the hackmii installer will install on that
3- You can unstall and reinstall ios58 without patches and give hackmii installer another try

I don't really think there is anything you can do to get the newer hackmiis to install for you. Keep trying, but if you can't get the updated HBC to install consider installing a postloader forwarder channel and using that instead.

All your really need is Boot2 bootmii, the HBC is not needed for anything. Postloader would be a good alternative.

Also, MMM can lose wiimote sync when run from some exploits. Setting the auto ios reload to another ios in the mmm config file should fix that issue. I would try ios57, or 80 or other.

Seems that people were a little overzealous when they said "This method works on ANY Wii!" then. Thanks for the information. However, even Hackmii Installer 0.6 failed. Changing the autoload IOS in mmmconfig didn't work, I tried several. At this point I think I've done pretty much everything that I can do, the only people in the world that could mod my Wii are certain employees at Nintendo, unfortunately I don't think they'd be up for the idea. Thanks for the help, anyway.

The hackmii installer creates a log @ sd:\installer.log
Post that log here, it should give an idea what the problem is.

Also make sure you'r using your old wiimote.

Look for an updated version at:

If this is already the latest version... well, suck it.

Oh, the code tags don't work here like I'm used to, not sure how to post a large amount of text in a small, scrollable window on this site.

Use hackmii 0.6

This could be part of the problem "IOS versions: Installer: 0"
Not sure where not ios0 came from. But if the installer is reloading it, it is not going to work. I wonder if wiimod left that ios0 behind?

Try this, download the hackmii 0.6
Download dop-mii v12
Run dop-mii v12 using letterbomb or wilbrand. Do a system scan from the main dop-mii menu. Save the log to sd and post that here.
Then run hackmii 0.6 via letterbomb or wilbrand.

If that still does not work, I have other ideas for you.
