so guys my psp-1000 will be on Pro-B 10 fix 1 for a while now?
or can i update to Pro-C fix 2?
i dont care about the online thing

Yes, you can, but don't use the CIPL installer or you might brick. Better to stay on Pro-B 10 Fix1 altogheter for now, imho. It doesn't add much except for the Online mode.

At the moment people are reporting issues with the latest release (PRO-C) CIPL installer producing softbricks on 1g and 2g units.
We are investigating the matter! Until then... if you really need to install CIPL, please use the CIPL installer from PRO-B10 fix1.

Well, all the bricks that occurred were all due the new PRO-C CIPL installer, and none related to the vshmain.prx method, so it should be safe to assume that the vshmain.prx method is safe to use

I've re-uploaded PRO C with the old B-10 CIPL installers to filetrip. That should fix the bricking prob (according to Coldbird).

Staying away from the PRO-C, but I want to upgrade to the 6.60 PRO B10.
I have a 2000series currently running a permanent 3.80 M33-5 CFW. I just had the system modded today, but would like to upgrade to 6.60 PRO Beta 10 to where it stays permanently on the system. Obviously my system can handle permanent CFW installs, but the reason I'm asking is because I had my system modded by someone else; I don't have a Pandora battery, and I don't want to have to reflash the CFW each time.

Now how can I go from 3.80 M33-5 to 6.60 PRO B10 with the least amount of problems? I've heard I might have to upgrade to higher CFWs like 4 m33 and then 5.00 m33, but is there a way I can go straight from the 3.80 to the 6.60 PRO B10 and have the new CFW stay on the system (Like a CIPL Flasher?) Before upgrading, I'll have to disable my plugins, correct? Any other cautions? I'm still generally new to PSP modding, but I'm very experienced with modding other consoles. Also, I've read several guides, and I can learn very quickly.

The sticky has the instructions you need. If you can do an official update then do the update to 6.60, but if you can't then you'll have to run hellcat's to flash to 5.00 official and then update.

I have the 6.60 OFW downloaded on my PC, but won't upgrading to the OFW completely undo any CFW and mod I've done? I don't have a battery, and when I install the 6.60 PRO B10, I want it to stay on there instead of having to flash it over and over each time.

Yes installing OFW will undo mods, but it doesn't matter. The PSP's security is wide-open right now as far as normal users are concerned, you can install the PRO CFW on any PSP model, no pandora, it's all softmodding now.

If you got that information from another site you can bin the bookmark and mark the help they give as sadly misinformed. At 3.80 there should be no problems, it's the firmwares that are earlier than that when problems might occur.

I haven't done anything listed in any guide, but I am trying to learn as much as possible.

They say to upgrade to clean 5.00 before you try anything... Apparently some have encounted bricks due to updating from much earlier firmware... Whether this is true or not i do not know...

I used hellcat flasher to give me a clean 5.00OFW, updated to 6.60, Installed PRO and can report all is well, remember to install the CIPL AFTER you install 6.60CFW

That guide is too massive to be anything but a variable quality (and i highly expect it's cobbled together from lots of sources) You need to be on at least 3.52 M33-2 (maybe -4...i can't remember) and at a worst case 3.71 before you update...3.80 is fine, although it carries with it the DADADADA error Dark Alex implemented to stop updates to OFW. That's why people recommend Hellcat's Recovery Flasher to get you to 5.00 OFW as it cheats the update block you'll encounter if you try to update now. No-one can say you'll have absolutely no problems, but there's nothing inherently problematic about that route.

As for that guide, the fact they casually discuss IDStorage Regeneration with no caveats earns it a massive thumbs down.

Alright, xist, I believe I'm following you. From 3.80 M33-5, run Hellcat's RF to 5.00 OFW (Both which I have on PC), from 5.00 OFW, do I go to 6.60 OFW and then 6.60 PRO B10, and finalize it with the CIPL Flasher to make the PRO B10 permanent?

I was told by the (questionable) people who flashed my PSP yesterday that if I tried updating to any OFW, it would negate the ability to reflash a CFW unless I had a battery. Now, from all the reading I've done from Rydian's FAQs (Thank you btw, Rydian), I no longer need to worry about the battery (or never to begin with) to flash a CFW. Fortunately, my model PSP (the 2000) has a motherboard capable of containing a permanent CFW install (unsure of the exact make, but it's kept my current 3.80 M33-5 after several hard resets), so I just want to be absolutely sure that:

I will be able to go from my current CFW to an OFW and back to a CFW (newer) without the need of a pandora.
(Almost positive, if I read the FAQs correctly)
Order of operations is 3.80 M33-5 > 5.00 OFW (via Hellcat) > 6.60 OFW > 6.60 PRO B10 CFW >CIPL Flasher
Without the battery, I will be able to install the CFW upgrade permanently using CIPL Flasher (once the CFW is installed).

By following directions perfectly, I hope I can get myself running on 6.60 PRO B10 very soon.

Yup.

The people telling you that you'll lose all CFW ability are behind the times. Their info is outdated. It's like somebody today telling you there's no way to send a file to somebody on the other side of the planet.

just a friendly advise, if you wish to retain a permanent cfw dont update beyond OFW 6.20 then you can permanent patch it
if you go to 6.60 you will still be able to hack it but you will need to run the fast recovery program to load the cfw everytime you turn off your psp
you got all the advise now its your choice
