I was after some assistance. I am attempting some official speedruns on Virtual Console games so what I have done so far is...

1. Got a 4.1 Wii and removed all softmods.
2. Used this guide and updated to 4.2. Everything installed fine.
3. Installed priiloader and enabled region free channels.

I am under the impression that using an emulated nand is to not wear out the real Wii nand but is this only if the Wii is running the games from SD all the time? What if you install directly to the nand with a wad manager and load the games from a channel each time? This should not wear out the nand surely since this is what a "real" consumer would be doing from the Wii Shop channel etc?

With my Wii in this condition is it fine to install some VC games and run from nand?

Correct. When you launch games from the sd card, it temporarily copies it to the nand each time you run it. When you install it to the nand, and run it from the nand, it isn't writing to the nand everytime.

Sorry man but finaly I found someone with NewWiimote (orignal Nintendo).
All old homebrew don't work.
All new recompiled homebrew works fine.
But your compiled version of priiloader MOD (r142), one time start the installer form HBC, don't supported the new wiimote.

I can't say if, one time installed, the new wiimote work in priiloader menù.

Ooh, I recompiled the installer, but not the actual priiloader app (doh). I'll fix it in the next couple of days. Off to work for now.

Hi there.
I just read your guide. It's great!

I'm currently running system menu 4.1e with everything installed (priiloader 0.7, usb loader gx 3).

When reading your guide I get the impression that the first thing you do when softmodding a new wii running 4.1, you first update to 4.2?
Any reason why and furthermore: is it neccesary in my case?

Tried to update to the beta priiloader 0.8 beta 4, but get an error (system menu version invalid or not vanilla).
So thought 4.1 could be the problem. That's why I'am looking in to this.

The wii is working almost perfectly. Only thing is: sometimes usb loader gx doesn't seem to see my 2t wd elements.
After a few resets/power downs, the problem goes away.

Not sure on why priiloader is giving that error. Is it a custom system menu that you have installed? In regards to the hard drive issue, I noticed it happens with other wall powered drives when they spin down.

I just got the exact same thing.

I was trying to mod a 4.1 Wii. I followed the instructions downloading the up42e.zip file, I began the process via the System Menu > Channels etc.

I watched as it showed many IOS updates happening, but when it was finished I didn't have a Homebrew Channel.

So I thought to check the settings to verify it was now 4.2 and I get the infamous semi-brick opera error page.

It was acting as if the system menus were corrupt.

Now the bannerbomb wouldn't work, so I used the Smash Bros smash stack to get the HBC installed.

I finished the 4.2 mod work installing everything, but I still cannot access the system menu.

Can someone verify the files in the e42up.zip are correct. I need a valid set of 4.2 files to fix this I assume.

Any help is appreciated.

A the end i recompiled priiloader (program and installer) but I can't say if it works.

Please someone with bootmii on boot2 and new wiimote try it.
I just asked today in an Italian Forum.
If I had the good fortune to have bootmii of boot2, I would give no trouble, but I can only do certain tests .. :(

Priiloader 236MOD v0.70 (r142): http://www.mediafire...5gl2f400qv0zk86

Yes the 4.2 files are correct. Not sure why you guys are having issues there.

Thanks actar. Been really busy.

I have a Wii USA that had 4.1u with dvdx,HBC,Cios and wiikey 2 modchip, some games would not load. I decided to use this tutorial to see if I could make games work, but after updating to 4.2 and installing all IOS, Cios. When I put the dvd backup it appears the title and when I press A to play screen stays black. Why? Some games would not even load, it says error.. reset wii etc. Thanks
