Crystal Dynamics, the developers behind the new Tomb Raider reboot have announced on their blog that the game has been delayed until next year, citing "additional development time" as their main cause for the delay.

“Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months,” he said.

“We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait,” he added. “The game is looking amazing and we can’t wait to show it to everyone at E3 in a few weeks.”

Nice to hear that they take their time. Although I thoroughly loved what they did with Tomb Raider Underworld and didn't need a reboot but would have liked just more of the same equally, with their past decision it's better that they now make this reboot as good as possible to please Tomb Raider veterans and series newcomers alike. So that more games in the series will follow. Because I haven't found any other game series that has its main focus on structure exploration and pathfinding.

Bet it was delayed so they can sale it on the Wii-U at the same time as the other consoles.
While that would be nice, they said it wasn't coming to the wii u since they basically have to start over.

Well that's what the devs say but Square Enix could simply tell them that they'd have to do a port.

I reckon the more likely reason is because when this was due it would have been up against so much big competition that it may not have done as well as say in a month with not as many releases, we see this happen a lot with games plus TR isn't the big draw that it once was so would make sense.

Looks like those who wanted Tomb Raider will have to play Tomb Waiter.

But yeah, the game still seemed really mysterious to me. It looks like a possibly awesome Tomb Raider reboot but its just come and gone.

Also Christ, not every topic is "Will it be on the Wii U?"

November is huge for everything, it's not just "CoD month". Last November had CoD, Skyrim, Saints Row 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Rayman Origins, etc.

It was the best month for gamming imho. =O

As for the reboot, well, I liked the original Tomb Raider games for the PSX (heck, one of my first games was Tomb Raider and it was prettty awesome at the time, with Lara's triangular boobs to boot), because of that I'm somewhat having mixed feelings about this, I mean, not all reboots work out that well...

I haven't heard about this game in ages, so this isn't much of a surprise.

Well, hopefully the extra time will be good for it. From all the previews and stuff I've seen, it definitely looks like it could be an interesting new step for the franchise. Just as long as they don't Angel of Darkness the whole thing, we should be good.

Really off topic but:

Crystal Dynamics...

only one character comes to mind:

[snip]

It's Tail Time :tpi:
I wonder what happened to that guy, or gecko... When did they say this was a reboot for the series? In the screenshots i've seen of this game she looked older in her previous games, and I thought this was just a sequel.

Anyway... I'm still looking forward to this game, I just finished playing Underworld last month.

same thing as Duke Nukem

catchy 90's catchphrases weren't enough.

the only thing we have to go by was an unanounced Gex 4 for PS2 that was announced it was cancelled...poor guy..

Wow, Gex is pretty solid. I'm surprised it has continued.
