Hardware Nintendo Germany: 3DS sells 750k units

The 3DS has shattered all expectations in Germany, Nintendo Germany has announced. The system launched in March 25th 2011, and has managed to sell 750,000 units in the country, which is way more than any other handheld console.

Bernd Fakesch, who is the general manager of Nintendo Germany was quite pleased with sales figures and said, “The 3DS exceeded all of our expectations in Germany.”

In addition, Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land sold more than 500.000 times when combining the sales of the two.

In comparison the current gen consoles sold:

PS3 – 309,000 units after the first year

360 – 262,000 units after 16 Month

Wii – 800,000 units after first Year

DS - 9,7 Million since launch

This makes the 3DS one of the most successful console launch in Germany.

Dazu gehören u.a. die Möglichkeit eigene 3D-Fotos und -Videos zu erstellen, Spiele mit erweiterter Realität und zahlreiche vorinstallierte Programme wie StreetPass und SpotPass, über die der Nutzer immer wieder überraschende neue Inhalte empfangen kann.

Zum Erfolg des Nintendo 3DS haben nicht zuletzt zahlreiche 3D-fähige Spiele beigetragen. Schon zu seinem Verkaufsstart wurde der neue Handheld von mehr Publishern unterstützt als jede andere Nintendo-Konsole vor ihm. Nintendo selbst steuerte einige seiner beliebtesten Serien und Charaktere zum Spiele-Portfolio bei. Allen voran sorgte Klempner Mario wieder einmal für rekordverdächtige Verkaufszahlen: Das Rennspiel Mario Kart 7 und das Jump’n’Run Super Mario 3D Land gingen zusammen über 500.000 Mal über die Ladentische - und das obwohl sie erst Ende letzten Jahres veröffentlicht wurden.

Here, in Poland, Sony Poland said that Vita in its launch week sold more than 3DS during the whole 2011. Vita since launch sold ~4 000 units. It means that 3DS sold less than 4k units in Poland and behind west border, in Germany it sold 750k.
Difference in sales blows my mind.
Poland is Sony's stronghold, Nintendo has 1% of market. Here everyone thinks that Nin sucks. Nobody has NDS (they even don't know what DS is) and PSP is way better "because graphics".

I think the Vita sold 80.000 units till now in Germany, which ain't bad, but not really strong either.
DS sold 9,7 million units in Germany and psp around 3 Million.

Man those are some pretty low numbers. I mean it seems like its sold atleast 800k to 1 mill everywhere else.

Nintendo reportedly discontinued the 3DS due to low sales worldwide. It is expected that Nintendo will fuse with Sony next year to Sonytendo.

yea not really. we are 80 million people, so percent wise there are more 3DS in Germany than in the US. As far as I know, UK and France, the only other strong Video Game buying Countries, beside North-America and Japan, have lower sales. The only exception to all of this is japan, but well, yea, its japan.

Ok. So I don't know how much Germany sells in video games and I'm either stupid or trolling? And I simply said that it doesn't seem like much compared to every other place -I usually see sales from, therefore I said the it doesn't seem like much, so once again explain to me how making an observation is trolling?

Ok. So I don't know how much Germany sells in video games and I'm either stupid or trolling? And I simply said that it doesn't seem like much compared to every other place -I usually see sales from, therefore I said the it doesn't seem like much, so once again explain to me how making an observation is trolling?

SOooo..... I did this in Valwins thread about Italy's 3DS sales, I guess I'll do it here too. (Emigre even used the same joke he used from that thread)

Population of Germany: 80,000,000
3DS units sold: 750,000 or about .94 % of the population.

Population of USA: 311,000,000
3DS units sold: 4,500,000 or about 1.47 % of the population.

Also France has sold 874,000(population of 65M = 1.34%) and we don't the exact numbers for the UK yet but if Spain and Italy are in the 300,000 area, the UK must have topped 1,500,000
