People had some pretty strong suspicions yesterday, and now Ubisoft has confirmed them: Assassin's Creed 3 will take place during the American Revolutionary War.

Responding to a leaked image from a Best Buy Employee (or a Ubisoft employee, probably), Ubisoft revealed the box art, showing the same character decked out in a combination of Colonial, Native American and Assassin's garb attacking a Redcoat.

No word on whether our Assassin is a colonist who spent time with natives or the other way around, but the sometimes murky nature of pre-1492 American history lends more conspiracy possibilities than you can shake a hidden blade at.

The tomahawk and the vicious melee attack on the British soldier have a distinctly Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" feel to them, and I wouldn't be surprised if the bulk of the game took place in the hit-and-run guerilla tactics that colonial militias were beginning to develop during that time. Get your tomahawks and Kentucky long rifles ready sometime around next October.

WHAT? This cant be right. I read from various sources that Assassins Creed 3 will be about Altaïr's son in Alexandria.. Suddenly I'm not so sure if im going to get AC3.

Technically going from Altaïr's time to Ezio's time and then back (?) to Altaïr's son's time wouldn't be in any way considered smart if the end is somewhat 2012ish :P

That would have sucked ass if they did that.
This is a much cooler concept, and not to mention something fresh again. Taking two steps back wouldn't be a great idea.

Well you are right about that :DD Maybe I'm just overreacting and the game will be good but not nearly as good as the past have been..

If this is indeed based on the revolutionary war, then an instant pre-order for me.

We've needed a great American revolution themed game, looks like we'll get one.

Un-bloody-likely. I've used nothing but throwing knives, medicine, and hidden blades in the games. I'm going to stick with that until the end.

You're joking right? About everything I mean.

What are your sources? They must have been pure speculation, this piece of news seems like the real deal

Could be just me being biased since I am an Indian and all, but IMHO a Assassin's Creed based in India would be pretty interesting~ Then again, I have only played the first game so far, so I am not sure if it would really fit story wise so it might be completely impossible :V
Anyways, looking forward to this. Gonna wait till its near release date and then marathon the entire series >>
