Hey,

I used this tool's information to update the Wii. I already had HBC / 4.1U and selected the correct options for what I had. I ran through the guide, but since I have done this to a few weeks w/o the guide I skipped over the nand backup.. I thought I had one from my current version already. That later turned out to not be true after I can't read from the drive the nand was on.

After I completed the install the system boots to priiloader, but I am unable to continue further. I can load the HBC from priiloader, but I cannot launch any titles such as vc games, retail, games, etc..

The error priiloader gives:

failed to load system menu
can't get boot stats!

when I try to load a title from piiloader I get:
WARNING: TMDSize error on 0010001 then it gives another string of hex characters.

Any ideas on what I should do?

since u can access the HBC, get there then launch bootmii, from there make a nand backup before doing anything else.

the tmd error isn't a big deal, it should actually list all the channels after the tmd error. Basically one of the custom channels u have installed is raising flags, it's not a huge deal.

are there any other steps u skipped from the modmii guide? It's hard me to tell u what went wrong when I don't know whether or not u skipped more than just the nand backup step.

No, I did not skip any other steps. I did find it strange that I installed all those IOS WAD files, but I did that as well. If I run DOP Me which lists out all the IOS/cIOS installed in the syscheck about the 4th one listed actually core dumps DOP. This has me thinking that maybe there is some corrupt file that managed to get installed and it cannot read from it. I have the developer of priiloader working with me on IRC, but so far nada on the inability to load the system menu or use any game/title. priiloader's last debug message before it is reloaded (when trying to load system menu) is using 0x7C for booting.

I found my old nand backup.. going to just restore to it.

If you begin working on a video, please try to let me know what topicvideo you are working on so I can let you know if anyone else is working on the same thing. If you want I'll be able to direct you to a video no one else has started on yet.

I'm not sure what kind of interest this will generate, if anything, but I hope to see a few people make some awesome videos :D
I could do How to Install ModMii and/or ModMii Wizard Usage video guides.

Edit: But not until Thursday or Friday once I get back from vacation.

Sweet! Thx a lot man, I've editing my post so ppl know you've volunteered for those tutorials. I'm thinking I may start an entirely different thread about "ModMii Tutorial Video Volunteers" (or maybe if a mod is reading this he can feel free to move the relevant posts to a new thread for us). I think it will be easier to keep track of this in a separate thread.

Have u tried using different cIOSs to load your usb-loaders? You can add an meta.xml argument to apps\usbloader_cfg\meta.xml to try modmii's recommended cIOS222\223\224\249\250. If those don't work u can try installing a d2x cIOS with a different base like 38 or 58

A d2x-v7-final with a 58 base did the trick :)

Thank you very much again for your help :yay:

I like the fact I can build any nand using my U serial# but what I did so far was change the 1st letters to what ever the region is suppose to have while keeping my numbers the same; so now my question will I need to rebuild any of these nands just using my actual serial# or is just changing the beginning letters good enough?

Thanks in advance.

@The Papo,
no need to restore or unhack your wii. Just softmod it as if it was never modded before and it will overwrite any older softmods you may already have. So basically download\install ModMii, from the main menu enter "W", then "Y", then follow the prompts and your custom generated guide.

@groose, that is awesome, I'm really glad I was able to help :D

@kylster, I'm actually not sure... I just lifted the restrictions so people are free to test all sorts of serials. It should even work if u use your exact US serial number without changing the beginning letters. When cwstjdenobs built the supporting app that builds settings.txt file, he had it automatically build txt files for every region. What ModMii does is use the one built for the region specified, but basically everytime u think ModMii is building one setting.txt, it's really building 4 automatically, then deleting the other region versions that are not used.

I'm using Modmii to softmod a new wii with 4.3u system. The problem I'm having is that its failing to install ios236, with both ios236 installer and simple ios patcher. I've been trying all night and can't find any solution.

Yeah, I tried both of those as per the directions generated by Modmii. ios Installer says unable to locate a file on sd card, cant remember wha the error was for simple ios patcher.

I'll have to look at it later when I'm in front of the wii. I do remember with the ios patcher I tried the download from nus option instead of load from sd, and it still errored.

Not sure. But now that I think about it, we had problems installing Modmii on the laptop, and the issues could be that it didnt install correctly and maybe thats why the sd card is missing files. I can't verify anything til about 4 more hours when I get home.

I doubt the problem is what ModMii is doing. At the end of your downloads ModMii should have reporting X files downloaded successfully in green text. If it said any failed it would be in red text and would have told u to repeat "R" the downloads before proceeding. So if any files are in fact missing or invalid, u should have been notified before leaving your PC.

Hello, i received my wii, 3 or 4 days ago, it's an 4.3 e, it was softmoded easily with ModMii, thank you for creating it. The problem now has nothing to do with the softmod itself (i think) but i hope you can help me.
I can play games from any pen drive at my home, it's the external hard drives that are givin' me headaches, i tried everything i have a bunch of drives here, Maxtor's, seagate's barracuda, i tried to format them to fat32, still didn't work so i tried to partition one of them to wbfs and fat32 still no luck, when i try to load the device both programs used in ModMii usb loader and I'm not sure how's called the other one right now.... anyway they just don't show up at cfg, the partition or the entire device formated as fat32 are like empty, and , again I'm stuck with the pen drives that work without any problems but ain't big enough to play most of the games am i doing something wrong, should i put up usb config etc.. in the drive although i'm using it in a small SD card?

Sounds like your external hdd is simply not compatible. There are compability lists around the net.
i saw them but *sigh* it's pretty unlucky to have a bunch of hdd's and all of them not being compatible, i was hoping it was something else since i am, just like it says below my profile pic/avatar newbie, i guess i need to buy a new one.
:yay: thanks for the help.
