*The bug has been fixed* no more deleted microSD cards.
Sorry, my english is not very good. BUT:
There are a HEAVY Bug in the 1.40 Wood Firmware!
I'll try to explain the circumstances:
The new spongebob flash is safe. There is _not_ the problem. You can flash your R4iDSN safely (please _only_ the R4iDSN. not the Gold. a flash update for gold is in production)
The REALY problem:
The WOOD 1.40 Firmware.
Please DON'T Update to Wood 1.40. Whatever you use, DONT Update! Not with DSN, NOT with Gold.
The Bug in this WOOD Version:
Your microSD card will be delete, when you start a NDS File, that use other files (SAV, or homebrew). I've tested:
First fact:
You can safely start ".nds" files, there are NOT use other files. for example the new spongebob flash.
After this flash, my microSD Card was untouched.
BUT:
second fact:
When you start a NDS Game, your microSD Card will be deleted immediately!!
Example:
I start Mario Kart DS (trimmed, SAV File aviable).
I hear "wrm wrm here we go!".
Then, the first "mistake": The Main Menu Picture in the Top Screen is "normal". not the "You finished the game" Picture.
Then I tried to drive a Grand Prix. no problem! The game load correctly the data from the microSD card it seems (wie es scheint, lädt die microSD Karte problemlos die ROM Dateien).
and then, i turn off and on the Nintendo DSi.
The new spongebob icon show up, all correctly.
And now i start the R4iDSN.
Oh whats that? The R4iDSN freeze in the loading screen...
I turn of my DSi, and put the microSD Card into the PC.
Oh whats that?
the microSD card is crashed. (The Wood 1.40 is the guilty. _not_ the new spongebob flash!)
all NDS files, alle sav files, all gone.
please note:
- DONT UPDATE YOUR WOOD TO 1.40!! DONT DO THIS!
compact facts of my post:
- R4iDSN _flash_ (new spongebob): SAFE
- R4iGold _flash_ (new spongebob): SAFE
- R4iDSN _Firmware_ WOOD 1.40: DANGEROUS! absolutely NOT safe!! (it will delete your microSD card!) *fixed*
- R4iGold _Firmware_ WOOD 1.40: DANGEROUS! absolutely NOT safe!! (it will delete your microSD card!) *fixed*
Remember:
(The Wood 1.40 is the guilty. _not_ the new spongebob flash!)
So.I hope I was able to explain the circumstances of course, despite my lousy english.
mfg, yours sincerely
