When I started skyward sword I thought it was great, and I still do, I like the controls, the story and the environments. But I am getting frustrated with the lack of exploreable areas, I'm missing the random villages of the various characters and the little quests and shops within them that the old zeldas have,it definitely feels a hell of a lot more linear than previous zeldas. Like I said, I like the game but if it was up to me I would have more villages than just sky loft and more open areas with a means to travel by foot to all the different places, I know it was made like this intentionally but just because people were complaining about twilight princess's stupidly large empty areas but I don't think they should have cut out these areas all together...anyone agree?

I do, but i understand why they did it in universe, it is an early Hyrule, at a time all humans were living in the sky and the ther races were less evolved, it's logical there is much less activity on the surface.

All 3d Zelda games are linear, this is no different, Actually, the only difference now is, its more directive, you don't really have to guess where you go next.

what are you talking about there's lots of stuff to explore in this and side quests!
turning beatrix into a human
getting the ultimate shield
unlocking all the chest blocks
a shitload of money chests
have you found the fairy dust?
have you upgraded all your weapons
found all the gossip stones?
figured out all the different stuff you can draw on the skyward walls and what they give you?

dude there's plenty to do :P

I'm not saying theirs not stuff to do, I'm saying the stuff their is is confined to a smaller feeling game than other zeldas, can you honestly say their just as much stuff to do and just as many places to do it in as say twilight princess?

Yes, but after having finished the main story, i don't feel the need to go look for all that stuff. The only place i might want to revisit is Skyloft. In earlier Zelda, i loved to still hang out and explore some places after the main Quest (Kakarico in OOT, pretty much everywhere in Wind waker, clock town in MM).

In SS, the overworld feel a lot more like Super Mario levels, you beat it and move on to the nerxt part without looking back.
Or to say it differently, it's like the overworld has become a succession of mini-dungeon, with lots of puzzle to overcome. I feel the same way about it as i do with a dungeon. Once i'm done with it, i usually don't go back.

Skyward sword has the Shieka stone, and fi tells you where to go every time if you ask her for advice.
Games not hard. The only time I ever got confused was in the 5th temple.

That's it, that's what I was trying to say, but I couldn't put it into words properly lol

there's plenty of reasons to go back to the old levels like farming bugs and materials for upgrades or getting to new areas with the hookshot. i've been back and forth to all the areas the whole game as for the whole world being like 1 big dungeon i like it like that. the fields were boring in both tp and oot and as for less towns that's a good thing i don't have to run all over the place to get this or that everything is in 1 place just how i like it. :P

I guess it's just personal preference, I really liked the fields and Barron lands between places in the older zeldas, I really hope they don't carry on with this style though, I think that maybe wishfull thinking though as a lot the sequals to my old favrate games are going the same way, final fantasy battle system for example IMO it went downhill after 9. But I think Nintendo have always been good at inovation in games so hopefully the next big change they make to a series will be better (for me at least).

I missed the fact that the world was one giant map, and now it's 4 giant maps (3 on the surface + the sky). Also, I really thought that Fi would be a key part of the story, and she was just the damn sword... That was lame.

Also, what about fairy dust? I knew there was something to do with the mushrooms dust. If I bring it to the potion shop they will craft the fairy dust?

Dunno what the fairy dust does even lol, I did spend 800 ruppies on that heart medallion in beedles shop tho, wat a waste that was, it just gives you an extra heart when its in one of your adventurer pouches, trying to figure out how to get the best shield now, got goddess sheila but I heard their was a hylian type shield somewhere.

I do not like the fact that Fi is always telling us what to do next after some major event in terms of the main story. I would prefer that after telling me at the beginning that she can guide me, she would be silent until I would come to an idea to ask her by my-self

fairy dust = mushroom dust

pour it on an area and it makes a stun barrier anything that walks into it including bugs will be stunned on the spot.

i didn't think it was possible for something to be worse than navi...i was wrong! as for her guiding you she's absolutely fucking useless try using her in a boss battle after ghiram (however you spell it) !

Why would you need Fi in a boss battle? Her guiding is overpowered, you can completely shut of your brain and just follow her directions. THATS what makes her terrible.
And Im not talking about the "Advice" option, Im talking about the automated "Master! Look at this!"... Yes, thank you captain Obvious....

I did not know about the stun abilities of the dust. That's cool. I tried pouring it on "cool" tiles on the ground expecting something like a gossip stone coming from nowhere, without luck.
