I usually prefer reading from a book, but I decided that I was kinda being biased toward ebook readers, as the ones I've tested out before were pretty crappy, so I'd decided that whenever I get money I buy and get decent one. Though I want your guys opinions on what would be good.

You can get the most basic Kindle model for $79, and the Kindle Touch (that's the equivalent to the Nook that Ichigo linked to) for $99. Friend of mine has the Kindle Keyboard model, he's very happy with it, I've tried it out, I would be happy with it if I had one :ha:

Barnes n Noble's Nook Color can be hacked to run Android 2.3. There are you tube videos with linked files also. Its really easy from what I saw and the end result is a e-book reader that can do alot more then it was meant to. :)

Best is qualitative not quantitative. Both the newest versions of the Nook and the Kindle uses basically the same display, so it's more of a question of which interface you like better. I've used and at one point owned both.

Now that's for e-ink. Yes there are other brands, but please, you are either looking at the Nook simple touch (touch screen), or Kindle (the basic one, the touch, or the keyboard one)....

Now if you are talking about LED/LCD, you are more in tablet territory. Kindle Fire isn't out yet, the Nook Color is about to get a refresh, and of course there is the iPad...

But yeah, I'm guessing you are considering e-ink displays, in which case you need to play with both of the big boys and see which one you prefer.

I was thinking of maybe getting one for christmas, I haven't decided on what present I want (I have a choice between a Laptop or money, around 100 or 200 dollars.)

I'll probably go with the Kindle, thanks for the suggestion Veho and jesterscourt ^_^

Sorry I can't suggest a specific one, I don' know the market too well, what I do know about though is the features you should look for in an e-reader.

If you want an e-reader only for reading (not tablet stuff / colour pictures) then make sure buy one of the e-ink ones; they look so much better. Also, try one out before you buy, you don't want any lag when trying to turn pages.
If you can also try to get one with wi-fi (or 3G?) compatibility so you don't have to plug it into your PC every time you want a new book.

I have been quite happy with my nook old school. It's served it's purpose for 2 years or so. Got it when they first came out.

I am upgrading to the nook simple this year and handing my old one down to my son.
