I've got a few questions. I've recently had a taste for some N64 gaming, so I bought a nice collection of games, and a N64 which should be here in a couple days. Anyway, my questions are as following..

1. Anyone know of a site that has a N64 Flashcart in stock/have a N64 Flashcart they'd be willing to sell?
2. I bought a Gameshark v3.2, anyone know of a good site for codes?
3. I've heard that some games (like LoZ: OoT) have a key code? What is that?
4. Can I do anything with a Gameshark v3.2 beside enable codes? Like save dumping?

That about sums it up. Thanks in advance everyone.

1. Not a clue.
2. Pretty much google "n64 gameshark codes"
3. It's posted next to the game when looking up codes on the internet. Just go to the key code part, find the right one (or enter your own from online). All it does is allow the gameshark to boot up with some games that block it from starting. And you have to do it pretty much every time you remove the game and put it back in the gameshark.
4. Yes, sav dumping

. If you have a computer from like 10 years ago and some outdated, long gone software you could also enter cheats from your computer via the plug in the back of the gameshark haha. Hm you can hack games too, the RAM expansion is a must but the hacking is really nice.

1 as for flash carts there are only 2 iv seen neo myth n64 and 64 drive

2 i had a game shark 3.2 do you have the shark link cable? and for codes there all over google it -.-

3 oot has a MASTER CODE required to use codes at all and key code is usualy the special launch key as gameshark emulates a n64 game for better support and there is a special key combo at boot to get boot select cart menu for support selection usually emulates yoshi story as default

4 for save dumping good luck only can dump mem pack saves and send and recive them via sharklink >_>

ok that seems to be all the info.

There are several copiers you can find; the ones sold now are the Everdrive 64 (99 USD), The 64Drive (almost being sold; first batch being readied 200), and the Neo Myth 64 (200; the worst of the bunch).

Neo is not BAD but it IS more BS to get it up and running. The other two are copy paste, drag and drop.

Hahahaha, no offense man, but where did you get that comment about the "other two"

The ED64 is copy and paste, the guy developing the ED64 didn't even start on his until after marshall's project started picking up serious momentum. Heck, he even tried to copy the 64drive's USB support, and failed horribly at it. Not to mention, the ED64 wont work on consoles made after 1998. It's using crap components as well, and the 99 dollar version is the pcb without the cic, some other components, and without the case. The ED64 isn't worth even 30 dollars in my honest opinion, and as a person who's seen all of them in person, and someone who actually owns the 64drive, I can tell you for sure that the 64drive is the best option.

The ED64 deluxe with the cic, case, and all of that is like what, 160 something? It's not much cheaper than the 64drive, and you're mainly paying for a case that's been dyed, big freaking deal, haha. What really matters is the components, and the ED64 is severely lacking. Compare the PCBs, you'll soon realize that the 64drive is the best. I don't know where you've gotten your information, but do some research before you call the 64drive a "copy and paste" of the ED64.

Funny, the 64drive might have a nicer looking PCB, but their compatibility is almost exactly the same, and that's what it matters, doesn't it?

After having stated that, I dunno why you like to slander the ED64 so much. It's not like it kidnapped your dog or something.

It says that you copy and paste the games.

Not that the card itself is copy and paste.

Thanks for understanding what I said. This other guy didn't get it at all.

PS: Micro-Necro bump much just to bash the ED64?

He is probably the vendor of the other card.

Nope, I'm not the vendor of the 64drive, that would be marshallh or marshallgs. I'm not trying to deliberately bash the ED64, I'm just saying the honest truth about it. Considering a lot of details about the 99 version are conveniently left out, yeah.. Don't you think people have the right to know about it's issues if they're wanting to purchase it?

Really? Where did you get this information from? I already searched for it, you're the only one who says this. I have a Pikachu N64, which was probably made in 2000, so I'm concerned about getting a flachcart.

By studying the cart's pcb itself; it has a horrible design flaw that prevents it from working on consoles made after 1998.

If you don't believe me though, go ahead and buy it. The ED64 is crap, and I stand by that; and no, it's not because I'm a 64drive fanboy

I'm a fan of how the 64drive was designed, it's far more superior to the ED64.. The ED64 is built with crap components, it's has a horrible design, and it uses crap components.

The 99 price for the everdrive is without the CIC chip, you will likely pay 20 or more depending on how much they are willing to gauge you to buy the CIC and have them solder it to the cart.

Places to get ED64:
retrogate.com
store.kitsch-bent.com
stoneagegamer.com
warnersretrocorner.co.uk

Places to get 64Drive:
64drive.retroactive.be/index.php

CIC Chip you need:
CIC-6102 for NTSC systems
CIC-7101 for PAL systems

with the cost of the N64 flash carts it would be more worth while to just find the games used. Most worth while ones are around $10 and only about 20 games that were that great on the system that I have found.

Don't forget that if you buy the 64drive without a CIC, you can also solder in a CIC-6105 and jump a small connection to get it working. There's more details on the side, and floating around on the net.

10x20=200

How would it be more worth while to buy the games used when you can get a flashcart for around the same price? Also, there's a lot more than 20 good games on the N64, maybe you just haven't played them :P If you had a flashcart, you could easily play any game you wanted on the system and find some great ones that you've either never heard of or assumed it was bad.

The N64 dumper I got cost about 400-500 back then so 200 bucks or less is not really out of the norm for something that runs on old hardware.

Don't forget that you could also use a Gameshark Pro with a parallel port to dump games as well, I've found that's the most cost effective method. However, didn't the older copies have the ability to dump N64 games too?

OK, thanks for the information. I guess I'll just buy all the games on my wishlist one by one from my local local videogame store and eBay. It's more satisfying having the original copies, IMO, but not as convenient as a flashcart. Some titles are pretty costly and hard to get, though.
