With new participants flowing in from all over the country, the Occupy Wall Street protests reached a fever pitch this weekend. As the crowd increased, so did the number of police officers deployed to disrupt their right to assemble and march.

With over 80 individuals arrested on Saturday alone, videos began to emerge showing police officers’ use of multiple violent tactics, including tasers and pepper spray to subdue protesters.

The video below shows police officers trapping female protestors in an orange net and using pepper spray at point blank range, apparently without provocation.[/p]

The true social function of the police institution is brutally revealed: To defend private property and throw civil liberties out with the bathwater.

They are probably looking at the london riots where the police were too scared to even touch a person they let them burn down buildings
That is a moot point, considering it was the Metropolitan police's murder of Mark Duggan that acted as the catalyst for the riots.

Well the people were not moving when the police were telling them too. They were blocking traffic and have committed a crime. One person also assaulted the police officer.

Yahoo was blocking e-mail sent from the globalrevolution.com domain until the news called them out, and twitter was also keeping it from trending. There was a media blackout on it for nearly a week.

you know what the problem with these people is? They think that their rights supersede the rights of everyone else. I have just as much a right to use the streets to get to work or go home as they have to protest. By blocking the streets these so called protesters are actually trampling other people's civil rights. If you're denting other people freedom of movement you're not being non violent. There's a way to protest and exercise your rights freely. I've seen protests far bigger than this that didn't have any problems. The whole point is to cause disruption as a tactic to bait the police into a confrontation then edit the video and use it for propaganda. I have no sympathy for them since getting arrested and pepper sprayed was the whole point.

Get real. You don't even know what anarchy is. Hell. In fact I think the definition of anarchism is an utterly confused person. I asked an anarchist to explain some of their contradictory beliefs and they were stumped. Typical

Of course. How could I have been so silly? Protesting against a parasitic social layer that is responsible for plundering the economy and eroding rights for the sake of finance capital is totally illegitimate. Please. There's no evidence that the protest movement plotted against the police to tarnish their public image. The police have been doing a great job of that on their own.

What an incredibly shallow interpretation. For the most part (and because you can't control every single person 100%) the protesters were on the sidewalks. Where would you prefer they protest? Also, I would love to have this ability of yours to sense the intentions of all these people at once and determine that they all wanted to get maced and arrested.

If your mother or sister was one of the women in the macing video (did you even watch that video?), would you feel differently? It doesn't look like they wanted to be maced to me. They're simply angry at the direction this country is going in, and rightfully so. I don't think simply yelling outside makes you a violent protester that needs to be maced.

Agreed. Too much of that right wing dribble will rot your brain.
