Oops. I'll shut up. It's not my intent to come across as being contentious, but if it seems that way, I'm sorry, as this is seriously pissing me off.
I'll try the elf file and will post withing the next couple of hours.

This is starting to scare me (renamed to boot.elf to load from HBC)

First time running Snes9xGx.elf
- Crashed, but didn't produce a DSI exception message

Second time running the .elf file
- No crash, even after spamming the menu to open and close
- I should note that I changed the emulator SRAM settings from
the default to "Load SRAM - On" and "Save SRAM - Off"
- Yet, I tried those same settings on the unmodified 4.2.8 (the .dol file)
and it gave me a false sense of assurance, only to crash the next day,
so, it may be a fluke.

Why I'm not able to get the information that we need, I don't know. I can't force the emulator to crash when I want to, as it happens at the most random times. When it does crash, it doesn't give me the info that I so desperately need.

On an unrelated note, SA-1 games run smoother on this version than they do in the official release (notably Kirby's Dreamland 3; not all levels run smoothly); weird indeed. But anyway, this is mind-boggling. Why it works at some times and crashes at others is a mystery.

If there was only some way to force DSI exceptions/code dumps to show up when you need them to.\

Edit 10:40PM

Guess I'll look for assistance elsewhere

you need to have more patience.

Sorry, I was told off by someone (not going to name names) in a private message and was a little upset about it. The thing is, he expected me to use a file he uploaded (Snes9xGx.elf) to let it crash, display the error code and post it here so we could figure out what was causing the normal (dol) version to crash so much. Well, I used the elf file that he wanted me to use, but I never got the result I needed (didn't display the needed error code) and just froze. I was looking for a code dump, but I can't get it to show the data I so desperately need. It almost always freezes, sometime with an error code, sometimes without.

Loading Snes9xGx on HDD - Random lockups
Loading Snes9xGx on SDHC- No crashing whatsoever.

Tantric has the same HDD as me, so it can't be my HDD.

I would argue that just because Tantric has the same HDD as you doesn't mean that your HDD is fine.
You say its fine when run from SDHC but not from HDD.. Seems then to point to either your hard drive, associated cabling or USB port.
Dare I ask if you have attempted to reformat it, different cluster sizes, different partition sizes.
Do you have another HDD or even a USB key you can try?

The only thing that I haven't tried is a complete reformat. Luckily, backing the files on there wouldn't be much of an of an issue; trying another HDD would be, as I currently don't have the funds to test another one. It could be the hard drive yes, but I hope that it's not; Western Digital HDD's are supposed to be one of the better brands (if I got a Toshiba or Seagate, I could see stability being an issue).

It's frustrating to be sure, as this is the only program that seems to randomly lock up, which boggles the mind. Not only that, but I can't get it to generate the information that will be the key to solving this mystery; the code dump/DSI Exception error information. I can get the test ELF to crash, but I can't get it to display the code dump. This is where it all began and now I'm at a standstill when it comes to solving this issue.

I personally have always avoided WD HDD for the simple reason that where I used to work, they were mainly used and they were forever getting replaced. I have always bought Seagate and had one Maxtor (before Seagate bought them). It's my opinion that Seagate are the best makers of HDD.

I had a Seagate back in the day and it crashed and burned like no other. My PC has had a Western Digital for three and a half years, not once have I had an issue. The Maxtor in there works just fine, too. Toshiba's, however, my brother seems to have had back luck with. The so-called green HDDs I avoid like the plague. But after looking on the list of HBC compatible HDD's, the HDD I have now is one of the more compatible ones.

One program out of ten or so I use shouldn't be giving me this issue. Am I going to get help here or not? Yes, I can try to reformat, or can I use the HDD for the ROMs while using the SDHC card for saving? I can't get my money back for the HDD and it will be cold day in hell before I get another drive. Wii backups run perfect, GenesisPlus GX runs perfect, FceuGC runs perfect, but Snes9x doesn't. That is what doesn't make sense to me.

The whole purpose of getting an HDD = convenience. I don't trust SMB because my Wii has hated the wireless internet connection since hacking it (take Netflix for example, it always locks up and/or doesn't buffer all the way. Movies never play all the way through). So I can't trust that. DVD, my Wii is four years old and the who knows how much longer my DVD ROM drive will last.

Yes, I can do SD, but SD isn't practical for Wii game backups. A 32 or 64GB SD card is exponentially more expensive than a 500GB USB HDD, and on top of that, USB 2.0 has faster read/write speeds than SDHC. The whole basis behind my creating this thread is to get assistance for Snes9xGx constantly crashing. Again, it's the only program that does it, everything else I run is as smooth as butter. Yes, I admit I treated many of like a jerk and I sincerely apologize for it.

The logic behind my reasoning is, if someone's going to spend 70-100 dollars for a USB HDD, you should expect it to more or less run with good stability. In this case, Snes9xGx, with it randomly crashing, it causes people like me to get pissed off. Western Digital may not be top of the line, but they sure as heck have come a long way since the early-mid 1990s.

Is there anyone willing to try that Snes9xGx ELF file that giantpune posted last week and see if they get it to crash, just to make sure I'm not going crazy? This is the file he wanted me to test and get a code dump, but when I used it, it crashed the first time and ran perfectly the second. WTF?

I was using 32GB as an example. I only have an 8GB SDHC. I can't run SDHC and HDD at the same time, which is why I have it. Again, I put everything on the HDD for convenience sake. You miss my whole point, I'm trying to get help with getting Snes9xGx to work without randomly locking up. All this hard rebooting the Wii will probably jack up my HDD and other components. That's why I'm here, to get help. I will NOT use SMB for Snes9xGx.
