How do we know that they didn't just open a game cartridge and soldererd some worthless cables ? This could be le mega troll of the century oO
Artins90The cartridge they put in the 3DS isn't of Splinter Cell it has no memory chips on it and the lines of soldering are very thick so unless they attached the wires to a real splinter cell cartridge, while out of camera angle, the game was running off that development board.

I always hoped there wouldn't be a flashcart for the 3DS for at least a few years, but Nintendo has been pissing me off lately. I hope it's true...

Not that they deserve this, but if they aren't going to make smart decisions, I don't feel like I should have to be paying for games anymore.

One game at a time sounds good enough to me

!
(as long as there is a way to keep save files to play it later again.)

well, 3DS will now be ruined. I really hope nintendo patches this quickly.

If it is truly 1:1, it cant be patched. It will always work as long as the actual cart works.
Of course it can be patched as long as roms are encrypted because they can dl the rom, see which exactly key was used to make said game and hardcode this key to not boot. That is assuming each copy of the game has its own key used to encrypt it. Double encryption ftw. XD

Why would they use a different encryption key per game cartridge? Not only would that take a lot of time to put together, but any idea how much horsepower the 3ds would need to decrypt each and every single different encryption key there is?

Not to mention that if they did that, they would still be blocking someone's legit game somewhere.

I was thinking this, glad someone else said it.

I think it's real. If you noticed they even went through the trouble of smugging the numbers on the chips on the board. This just would seem like a lot of work to make a prank.

I´m amazed how you people from developed countrys still found this kind of crap, here in Brasil we don´t have an offical price for our 3DSs, every store sell to a price that it whant it, the common price for the 3S here is 799 Reais, our money, just imagine you people buyng a 3DS for US$ 799,00, how do you like that ?
Other issue here is the price of games, the most common price for any game here is R$ 199,00 , and we brasilians are forced to import games from US or China, and have to whait one entire month to play it, if our mail officers dont still our games for themselfs and if we got lucky for no extra taxing. You people can simple go out your houses, enter a store near your home and buy the game you whant paying the price that Nintendo say it to pay and still there is people that found flashcarts, fucke this !
So what? You don't have to buy the 3DS at your local videogame store. You could buy it from the US (like me, for that matter). 3DSs are really expensive here too, probably even more than in Brazil(in retail stores). You aren't forced to buy videogames, are you? Whatever you say about the price in your country won't change the opinion of anyone. If americans complaint about the price, let them be. Flashcarts or backup loading was meant to be brought up at some point, every system is susceptible to piracy.

I'm glad that this is in early stages. I hope this gets another 1 or 2 years or development so we don't see a cancelling wave of 3DS games...

it just looks like they took the splinter cell game ripped out the case sodded some wire into the board and ripped out a street fighter case and used that to hold the splinter cell game in place it looks so damn fake remember when the first ds flash cart was shown? that cart had a actual menu with three roms on it and all three games worked this seems really fake looking just a thought

hurrr

It could very well be real but your reasoning is terrible.

My only issue is, if you have to flash a new game to it every time you want to change it what would happen to the save file? Could you export it and re-import it after taking the game off and then re-flashing it again? Or would you always have to restart?

We will find out when more news is released. Very good question that I was thinking myself.

Also, while I stand firm on how it will affect the 3DS' health, the idea that it will make more shovelware is BS. There will always be Shovelware on any console, this won't make more.

I believe it. Seems to me that if it were fake, it would be prettier and claim better functionality. Anyway, nothing to get too excited over yet, but great proof of concept!
