Yes. You need to install Priiloader and using the latest hacks_hash.ini enable either of the following hacks.
  • Autoboot Game press RIGHT on gc pad in 4th port
    Instead of the System Menu the game disc will be booted, when you hold Right on the D-PAD of a GC-Pad, plugged in port 4. This allows fast access to the game inserted.
  • Disc auto start when right pressed
    Same as above.
  • Autoboot Game
    Instead of the System Menu the game disc will be booted. Contrary to "Autoboot Game press RIGHT on gc pad in 4th port" you don't need to press any button.
I haven't tried this with GC games, but nothing leads me to believe these hacks won't work for GC games. Let us know for sure if they do or not.

LOL, my bad. It's been a while since I ever inserted a DISC in my Wii. I could not find a hash_hacks.ini entry for a disc auto boot hack, but here are the hacks.ini entries from my old hacks.ini file for SM4.1U.
CODE[Disc auto start when right pressed]
version=449
offset=0x8137A86C
value=0x2C000002
[Autoboot Game]
version=449
offset=0x8137A854,0x813794A0
value=0x48000020,0x60000000
[Disc autostart]
version=449
offset=0x8137A854
value=0x48000020

Thanks! why is it that we cant find these anymore? are they still safe to use?
Yes, still save to use. After the format change from hacks.ini to hash_hacks.ini not all the old hacks were transferred over, that's all. If anyone understands how to translate these hacks over into hash formats, or know of similar hacks for different SMs feel free to pass on the info in the form of an enhancement issue concerning hash_hacks.ini entries in the Priiloader Google Code site.

It's not hard to convert them, I'll do it later if I get a chance (should only take a few minutes). Are there any other hacks that need done? BTW, does "Disc auto start" work, or do I need to convert "Disc Autoboot"? I notice they are the same hack, but Disc Autoboot includes an extra offset, so I need to know which one actually works so that I can port the correct one.

EDIT: It's already in the hash_hacks.ini as "Force Standard Recovery Mode" (this does the same as what the autoboot hack does).

EDIT: There is no ported version of the Press Right on GC to Autoboot, because it is deemed unnecessary with the Force RM patch.

Ahhh, awesome. I should of noticed that the there were already hacks changing the same bits...Learn a new thing every day. Perhaps a name change for the hack, or an addition to the description?

Thanks for the brilliant catch.

Hi,

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but i've been looking all over the web for a solution to autoboot NGC games on a wii that is not somehow related to launching backups.

Basically my goal is to turn my wii on, and the (original copy) gamecube that is in the drive launches automatically. I only use my wii as a gamecube and I'm sick of having to go through the system menu to launch my gamecube games...

I am very sorry if this has been discussed many times in the past, but whether it was searching google or gbatemp, it's really hard to find a topic that is not backup related. Then I found this topic and I'm still not sure how to proceed? i don't want to corrupt anything and I'm getting confused between old hacks and newer hacks, I'd just add one of the hacks PPSainity is talking about, but I am not even sure I get the difference between autoboot game and disc autostart and if those hacks work with gamecube games and are not just limited to wii games. I understand old hacks can still be used with priiloader 0.7 (the version i'm using) but does a full hacks.ini need to be built or just a few hacks are required and then the rest gets read from hash_hacks? can i simply paste an old hack into hash_hacks?

Thank you for your help!!

Completely off topic. But I wish there was a hack that allowed a gamecube game Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. To allow 4 people to play through gc controllers instead of gameboy advance adapters.
