ROM Hack [Completed] Love Plus English Translation Patch

I got 2 reports from R4 and R4i users about the game skipping 100 days in Real Time mode. Anyone got that problem here?

And I'm not sure if the 2 reports were submitted by the same person, but if a lot of people have this issue, I'll try to see if there's something wrong with the patch. Otherwise, I'll probably leave it for now and wait to see if the problem will be gone in the next patch.

Other reports that I got mentioned that we should change all the scripts to more colloquial version. Ex. All of "I will" should be "I'll" etc. How do you think about it? I won't mind going over the old scripts to change them. If we agree to do this, I'll set it as a rule in the guideline.

this looks like a sign that this person probably switched on some of the cheats and t messed up the game(?)..
if they did the only way to fix this is start the game from the beginning again O__O; or if they have a save before they switched the cheats on,
(i always transfer and keep a save on my computer from the card cause you never know)

I'd definitely prefer contractions in most cases. I'll keep that in mind as I go through the scripts now.

Although, recently, I've been preoccupied, so I haven't been able to go through as many scripts as I would've liked. Sorry, guys.

hello everyone, I'm new in here and I just want to ask, how to transfer the patch file of love plus to ds and can it really work? because all this time I play love plus from emulator. thanks and keep up to good work guys...and on behalf of the teenagers and all otaku from my country, you people are our heroes and I wish the best of luck to you all...

@Dgrin, right, the cheat code might be the culprit. (So far, we got random errors from cheat codes, so this might be another one.) Thank you.

Now that I read your question again, I'm not sure if that's what you asked.

If you need to play the patched game on DS, you'll need a flash cart. (There's a whole section about flashcart on this forum. You can read it. Then you can convert your save file from emulator to your flash cart to continue playing.)

holy shit this game was released 2 years ago and there's still not a translation? i just found my ds and was hoping this would be finished by now. wowzers

Heya! I haven't been here for quite some time.

The translation is coming along beautifully, kudos to all of you and especially jjewel! Unfortunately I don't really have the time to do any editing, otherwise I would help, but it's great to see there are many new people that have signed up since the latest patch.

@jjangu:
Holy C!, you're obviously from the magical land where games get translated by themselves! Right? Tell me, what's Sigma Harmonics like? I've always wanted to play that one, but in this world it's still only in Japanese (and Chinese but I don't speak it either).

Seriously, think - would you go right now and translate some foreign book into English for free if I asked you to do it (if you actually speak fluently another language)? This is exactly the same. The people do it because they like the games and translating, they don't do it out of some obligation. For most of them it's their hobby and translations usually take years, have a look at how long the other DS games took - all of them went on for at least two years. This is quite a new project and already has 82% script translated, so try to appreciate how fast jjewel and the others actually are.

Sure, set it as a rule. Though...you'll have to give more examples as of what should we keep and what should we change

. Also, jjjewel, I feel bad to let you do the editing work as well, so I wouldn't mind re-check the old scripts. You concentrate on getting the scripts out

@Rozenheim: Just some common contractions would be okay, I guess. If you notice any of these in the scripts, you can change them.

But I usually don't use contractions what'll/what're or who'll/who're or mightn't, etc. So I'd prefer the common list from esl.about.com above.

@Ronin.Daimyo: The information you gave us is not enough for anyone to help you. Did you try to replay it and does the game still freeze at day 202? If that's the case, which girl are you dating and what personality she has (or tell us the color bar on the left screen.) And what did you do when the game froze? Ex. Where did you take the girl to a date? Did it freeze when you kissed her or during a conversation? Etc.

well..I date Nene-san and when to the mall..and on the way after the kisses part the game just freeze...her colour bar was orange...and that happend at day 204...

I was thinking about a patch on Rinko's BD, but unfortunately, that's not possible. (Only some minor changes have been made so far. Nothing major enough for a new patch. T_T)

I'm still working on finalizing Manaka's scripts and translating some more Rinko and Nene's. It might take a while and the documents on Google docs might be changed to off-line or read-only at times. I put some notes on the Google Site, but some of the files I mentioned are not uploaded yet.

When Rinko refers to herself in the third person, do you want us to use the third-person conjugation for the verbs? I think I've been doing and seeing that all along, but I noticed a part of the script which had the verb conjugated in the first person and I kinda wanted to make it clear.

I'd say third person, but that's just my preference.

I'd prefer third person too. But in case it gets too difficult to understand or the sentence gets too long, you can change the way she refers to herself to first person. (Ex. Use "I" instead of "Rinko")

I'm at my parents' house for the week before the Fall semester, so I should have some free time to work on those. I need to manage my time better so I have more free time for scripts....

I've gone through all of Nene's dating scripts [Edit: whoops, by "all" I meant the "during a date" text] but it's hard to tell what should and shouldn't be changed from the style sheet on the website. For example, I made a few contractions and changed some words to sound more natural (often switching out "quite") but I noticed afterward that this wasn't necessarily done in instances edited by other people. I tried to avoid making too many changes, and I didn't change anything significant (although I did leave a comment beside one use of "big sister" in the translation) to avoid having it clash with the rest of the text, but some of it does sound a little awkward still.

It's going to be functional either way, and I'm assuming other people will go over it and it'll be checked by someone who has seen everything before being integrated into the patch, but I just thought I'd let whoever know.

Does this mean you're gonna be busy in Fall semester? I'm trying to finish the dating scripts for Rinko soon and maybe a few more important scripts. That should be enough for the next patch release.

Thank you, ValerianK. Feel free to change the scripts or leave comments if you find anything that sounds odd. I'll go over the scripts before inserting them to the game.

Anyway, if there are anything that need to be changed, please change them, or if you're not sure, please leave your suggestion. (English is not my native language, so it's difficult for me when the editors only say that some lines sound weird without telling me how or what to change. T_T)

It's already at the point where everyone should be able to understand it, which is the most important thing. I'll just keep looking at what everyone else is doing and try to keep it consistent.

When you say you want Nene and Rinko's "dating scripts" done for the next update, which sections exactly are you talking about? Like I said, I went over "during a date" for Nene but I'm guessing "dating skinship" and some other sections should be done for this update as well.

I mean I'll try to finish the rest of the translations for Rinko's dating location scripts so you guys can start editing them.

(Anyway, Rinko's scripts are the most difficult ones to translate so it might take a while.)

The dating skinship scripts were done long time ago. (They are already included in v 0.6 patch. But they might still need some editing.)
